My part1 score is 89......it is a space based program.Duration is 3 years..just personal interview ...no clinical exam...
it is very cheap compare to NYU.....

hi

i would suggest detriot as u say it is cheap well if u talk about motown even ny u know how it is and both the programs are of the same duration so why not go for something which is economical plus nyu program is no longer easy talk to some nyu current student and u will know

Another Thing I'm just worried about following statement...

New york state is pushing towards having a mandatory one year residency after graduation from dental school ( could be a rumour).

If the above statement is true I think UDM would be a better option for me....
Still thinking what to do??

Its not a rumour. It is compulsory for all those graduating after jan 01,2007 to have a one year residency attendence to get a license in NY state.

I also hear that you need a Green Card to work in NY,unless you are willing to go to a under-served area.

Check out UDM and if its not bad,go for it.

Certainly UDM. Notwithstanding the cost factor UDetroit Mercy is organising the school towards better. I heard some new fundings came in 2004-2005 session. Detroit is a cheaper place to live compared to NY. I don't think you will learn anything less as well by going to UDM. Moreover their class size is smaller.

Of course the final decision is yours.

Oh one more thing.....it is very, very cold up there compared to NY.

About residency regulation in NY state, one doesn't have to do it if he or she decides not to practice in NY state. This residency is not part of the curriculum. It is a NY Dental Boards licensing requirement. Check the following link:

Good luck

Yes...Looks like UDM is one of the good clinical schools...I'm little inclined to IT only thing I may miss research opportunities compared to NYU..

Just dig a little more under the UDM skin and you will find you won't lose out on the research front!
