UF Pharmacy Application Cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For the "Describe your personality question," did you guys describe your personality, or your character? Because technically personality would be funny, bubbly, friendly, outgoing, etc. However character is motivated, a leader, determined, hard worker etc. Is this a test to see if we can follow directions? lol.

Did anyone else get en e-mail from admissions recently?

I guess this means they have started reviewing applications

Yep, got one today. If you're talking about the email reminding people of the other parts of their application, that is.
Gotta finish these essays up ASAP.

I assume you guys have already finished the pharmcas verification step?

Anyone got anything from UF yet? Emails.. Letters.. Etc?

I wanted to apply to UF but didn't realize they required such recent PCAT scores (I took it last summer). At this point to apply there I'd have to take the PCAT again in January to be eligible. But I wonder if I'll even have a decent chance at getting in if it's that late in their cycle when my application is considered "complete". Especially since I'm out-of-state. 🙁

UF is the only school I know of that does not accept PCATs prior to the July update. Best of luck to you bud

Hey guys, I took the PCAT a week ago and I was wondering how important the reading comprehension part is... I did pretty well overall, but reading comprehension really killed me...

Verbal Ability 94
Biology 99
Reading Comprehension 75
Quantitative Ability 85
Chemistry 98
Composite 98

Will that low Reading Comprehension be interpreted as "not competitive"?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should probably be ashamed of such horrible scores. I'd be surprised if you got in anywhere.

Okay but really, anything over 70 is generally considered competitive - don't worry about it at all. 👍

Thank you so much! I was worried about it 🙂

Why were you so worried? Are you out of state? Your score is very impressive.

No, I'm in state, but English is not my first language, and I felt like the fact that I did so bad comparatively in Reading Comprehension might turn off the admissions people? I don't know... I was just freaking out for no reason maybe.

Stop worrying my dear. You did an amazing job. You should be very proud.

PhamCAS mailed, supplemental submitted, and fingers crossed. Glad I have Organic Chemistry and Physics to keep me busy while I wait. :xf:

Belmont, because Nashville is beautiful and the facilities are impressive.
Manchester, because of the pharmacist shortage in Indiana, and
Nova because its close to home. I was going to apply to Howard, but decided against it.

Awesome! Best of luck to you!

Has any one received any other news? I only got an email saying that they received all my apps and to wait for further correspondence in the future.

I got an interview invite via email, assigned to the Gainesville campus!!! 🙂

Def. Congrats to those who received an interview. Im still waiting for my Sept. PCAT to be processed. The wait is killing me

Ditto. The wait is killing me also. I think I check PhamCAS 3+ times a day.

My application was submitted, and PCAT taken in September, but I'm currently in Organic Chemistry I. Do you think it's possible I will receive an interview before the end of this semester?

I'd say it depends on when your PCAT materials get in, really. Because I know I'M still in physics I, for instance, and still need to take another prerequisite next semester (in addition to physics II) - but as long as all of your planned courses are on pharmcas, it shouldn't be a problem!

UF just sent me an email informing me they received my app and asked me to wait. This waiting is killing me! Congrats allison btw!

Six emails received since Thursday all saying: I have received your UF, PharmCas and Pharmacy School application. Please look for further Correspondence from me in the future.
It's slightly frustrating. Each time I check my email hoping its an invite.

Has anyone who selected the Orlando Campus as their first choice received an interview?

Has anyone who selected the Orlando Campus as their first choice received an interview?

Hello I did. I have a friend who goes to the Orlando campus and she told me good things about it so i picked it as my 1st choice and my interview is for Nov. 29th.

IMPORTANT**

if anyone really wanted the Orlando campus but got stuck with Gville and would like to see if they can switch, please let me know. We can try working with the admissions comittee.

Hope fully someone can clear this up for me:

I was looking at the estimated tuition for 2012-2013 on the uf website and saw that they have it listed as follows:
Fall 2012: 12,333.29
Spring 2013: 14,354.66

The first year is ~ 26.6k in tuition alone?
That can't be right since this is a public state school? If anyone knows can you possibly confirm or deny the tuition rate for uf cop

I think it looks right. It's also less expensive for different locations. From what I've seen, in-state for state schools is 20-28k then OOS for state schools are 30-36k.

You can e-mail the admissions committee (Mary Beth) and ask to petition your campus assignment. I just did and got approved, you just need to give them really compelling reason.

I tried but got denied. Mine was not compelling enough.. What did you state if you dont mind me asking.
