Clearly they havent started calling yet...

Final decisions arent made at the meeting, the people that interviewed you present you to the committee during the meeting, then you're placed into the acceptable or not categories, then final decisions are made by the dean...

Thanks for the clarification! 🙂 It just seems odd that two people said they got accepted Feb 2nd if no one was supposed to be called yet...

No problem...My guess is those are people who were waitlisted from Dec 1 so they already had decisons made...

im not too sure because someone that interviewed on jan 8 got a phone call already. I hope that sergio is spot on with this but Im still having my doubts.

me too. I am hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. Was that person on predents or a friend of yours?
 
I remember at my interview they said you will know your status (in, not in, or waitlisted) the first week of feb.

Now the fact that UB40 got in, (and I am pretty sure he wasn't already waitlisted), via a phone call makes me nervous.

I am nervous because it is almost the end of the week..which means its likely if they haven't called us by now, waitlist or rejection letters are en route to us via mail.....🙁
 
Just took the plunge and called UF. They said all "correspondence" went out in the mail yesterday. I asked if the acceptances were called, and she said that everything had to be mailed.

Seems weird to me. I think they called everyone who was accepted, and the rest of us are going to get a big fat rejection in the days to come. 🙁

Did you guys get in anywhere else? Where are you going to attend if the rejections are, indeed, on their way?

oh god let's not think about that yet Ninja... especially since we all change our minds every 5 minutes 🙂 (don't lie cause I know we all do it)

Lol, you're right...I do change my mind every 5 mins. :laugh: But I only have one other acceptance, so I guess my mind is made up for me. Although I'm really worried because I've heard so many bad things about the school. 🙁

Why can't we all just get accepted?! It seems like we get along already. And apparently you love all of us. 😉
 
i hate to do this but if they said a call would be given out by first week of Feb then those are the ones who got accepted. Any mail from here on out is a rejection or waitlist. It happened to me last yr same situation. Maybe things are different this yr but why wouldn't they call you if you are in versus saying it in a letter.

Most of you though are accepted elsewhere so count your blessings! Good luck to those who got the call!!!👍

No, that is why I am frustrated. They didn't say they would call. They just said you would know the first week of feb, and now they apparently called some people? Even on their website it says they only send out decisions via mail.

Note: The admissions committee cannot inform applicants of acceptance any earlier than December 1st. Please be aware that the admissions office can not give any final decisions over the phone. All decisions will be mailed to your preferred address and posted at the AADSAS website. Decisions in writing are the only official decision from the University of Florida.

but people already got phone calls the first week of Feb who got in. Pre and post dec1st people who were accepted got phone calls. any letters in the mail are waitlists or rejections. There were just 2 or 3 people on sdn that said they received a phone call post dec 1st but obviously not everyone is a member on here so there had to be more calls.

Anyways if your waitlisted you still have a shot, or you have at least another acceptance.

and you could always get a call after the first week of Feb too. nothing is set in stone here. Good luck Kitten:xf: Do you have other acceptances?
 
I have been watching this thread for a while and finally decided to jump in. I called UF a week ago or so and they said, concerning their waitlist, that people are pulled off the waitlist only after all offers have been made. So I am assuming that this is the last round of offers since one person got moved from the waitlist, correct?

I'm pretty sure that the person who got pulled from the waitlist was from out of state... and I would assume that out of state is a different waitlist from in state, as they have set numbers for the number of in state and out of state individuals that they accept. I also thought that UF continues to interview until the end of February (I tried to go talk to someone on admissions back in December when I was waitlisted--I wanted to know what I could work on improving over the next few months to help improve my application... At this point in time they told me that they could not talk to anyone about anything regarding their admission status until after they were done conducting all interviews which I was told would be the end of February). So! That being said, I don't think that the first week of February will be the last round of admissions... So, stay hopeful everyone!!! 👍
 
This is all too confusing! I wish they could give us answers. A friend called and they told him that everyone should be getting their mail Saturday or Monday for the most part. They made it sound like they didn't call everyone who got accepted but they could also mean that being put on the waitlist is considered an acceptance. They also said that people who are waitlisted should start hearing back two weeks after they update the AADSAS status which will happen sometime next week. So hang in there everyone!:xf:
 
Got my rejection letter. Anyone get wait listed? Good luck to everyone else. I really hope someone on here gets to be a gator!!! :luck:🙄

Thank you Dr. PJ, got my rejection letter. But I got in at all the other schools I applied to/went to interviews at. I'm so excited to start dental school and also to take a break this summer!

Guess I'll be packing my bags for beautiful Colorado!
 
Wait-listed. I heard one of the D1 students say that there were only like 3 people in his class who got in through the wait-list. And apparently the year before that, there weren't any. Can anyone confirm/deny this? Seems like such a low number... 🙁

At least you are not rejected. And yes the number is usually low. It ranges from 0 to 7-8. What are your stats if you don't mind me asking?

I wouldn't think the waitlist moves very much either...the price difference for FL residents is so drastic, I don't think many accepted in-staters decline the offer.
 
got rejected as well today. guess a 21 and killing upper level science courses most haven't taken doesn't mean too much.

My GPA is 3.6. When I interviewed, my DAT was 18/19/21, but I just retook it this week (22/22/20) and faxed it in.

Anyone know about how many people are usually on UF's wait-list?
 
sorry guys...yea I was pretty sure of the whole situation here. Hey at least everyone has other acceptances...just wasn't meant to be right! In the end we are all going to be dentists. Price, being close to home are all great factors don't get me wrong, but not all FL residents who applied can attend so we make sacrifices to achieve our goals.

Stats aren't everything at UF...they look at the overall applicant as well and see if you would be a great fit for the class so don't be disappointed.

For those waitlisted good luck the w/l even though it does not move that much esp for the instate residents. There is a chance so keep thinking positive! 👍
 
My current gpa is 4.2 and a 30 on the composite ACT with writing and I still have yet to receive my acceptance letter. Im getting worried -_-;; Whats all this about phone calls...? Florida is the only place I applied to (because its the only place I want to attend)

They are referring to dental school. You are referring to undergrad. Good luck!
 
Waitlisted....whatever is all I gotta say. I had already decided I'm going to University of Maryland anyway! There is no comparison in the facilities anyways. Btw...it's UF's loss not ours- is the way I see it! Loans will all get paid once were all successful dentists, so going oos is just another life experience we could all prob use now anyways. 😉
 
That's the way I'm trying to see it as well. If Colorado accepts me as one of their VERY few OOS spots, but my own state school won't, then it's their loss..


Plus, their football team will probably suck this year anyways...:laugh:😛

It is definitely interesting to see the stats of those accepted, rejected and waitlisted. There is so much variation and it is very hard to predict. Good luck in Colorado! I am still waiting on UF's waitlist.
 
UF did sign the most of the top recruits so I wouldn't count them out😀
 
Dr. Sposetti called me today! I'm off the wait-list!!:soexcited::soexcited::soexcited::soexcited::soexcited: Glad I hadn't paid my $1000 deposit to Nova yet.
