Hello everybody, um University of Florida and FAMU are my top 2 Florida colleges for pharmacy. My guidance counselor told me I probably wouldn't make it in UF pharmacy school , but I'd get a lot of support from FAMU 😕. If you experienced both schools, or know someone who did, can you please diffrenciate between the two???
And if you attend UF, or FAMU, please tell me about the program. Like the teachers, resources, ect. Thank you🙂
Oh, and for those of you who gave me advice about pharmacy thx.😳

Are you a minority? That is a huge advantage when applying to FAMU.

antimony,

did you apply to 16 schools? is that the norm?

I can only speak from my experience at FAMU. If I had to do it over again I wouldn't change a thing. I have LOVED my time at FAMU and I'm sure students at UF would say the same about their school.

FAMU tends to give preference to their pre-professional students so if you complete your pre-reqs, you are more than likely assured a position in the program. FAMU's mission always has been find diamonds in the rough, so they unlike some other schools are willing to taking a chance on some students. Thats doesn't mean you will receive less of an education at FAMU. Currently I'm on rotations and I know that I match up well with my UF collegues.

My advice to you would be to visit both schools and try to talk students to get their perspective. IMO you can't go wrong either way. UF is a great institution and FAMU is known for its pharmacy program, but whereever you go be ready for a lot of long nights studying but in the end it will be all worth it.

Not true. FAMU is an HBCU but within the college of pharmacy there is a wide variety of students. Being a minority is neither an advantage or disadvantage at FAMU.

P.S. 16 schools? I don't know how you do it, good luck to you!
