Anybody else who didnt get "the call" on Friday worried about what they might see in their mailbox tommorrow?? I know I am!!!:scared:
 
I hope i didn't ruin everybody's weekend simply because I receive Saturday mail... Chins up troops! Everything will turn out the way it's supposed to!
 
So, I go to my mailbox and see a thin white envelope, so now I have become the "alternate" canidate. Anyone have any clue as to how much of a shot I have at still being part of the incomming class of 2011??
 
Wow, waitlisted at UF and Nova... I'm sorry. I think I might like my situation more than yours! I know that UF's waitlist is more of an actual waitlist than Nova's and that people do get in off of it... however, sometimes not until August or *gulp* the first day of class! But hope springs eternal and I wish you all the best of luck!
 
I was waitlisted last year, a spot could open but do not count on it. You NEED TO improve your stats, prove yourself at your interview, and a positive personal statment to make a good impression for next year.
I just recieved my big envelope, it was certified.🙂 🙂 🙂
 
I got a phone call too on Friday but believe me, my DATs are not even close to what I see here on student doctor! After talking to a member of the admissions committe, UF puts a huge emphasis on the interview and what they call "the whole package". They would rather see someone with okay DATs, okay grades, strong major, research, personal LORs, service, shadowing, clubs, jobs and so on rather than just great DAT or just a good GPA. They also want to make sure that they pick the correct "personality" to fit the college and that's why the interview is such a big deal.

If you didn't get a phone call, don't give up! They still have like 30 open spots and I know a kid from last year that was waitlisted and then contacted two weeks before school strated that he got a spot.

And Flaj, not that I am giving up yet, but can you tell me what you did last year to improve your application. If I am an "alternate", I should prob come up with some "alternate" plans.🙂
 
I can attest to the notion that scores aren't the most imporatant thing to UF. I have GPA of 3.55 overall and 3.47 with a DAT of 22/22/22 and got REJECTED outright. No waitlist for me. The worst part is that I am graduating from UF in a week, great motivation for finals. Thanks UFCoD.

I got into some other schools, but it sucks that I will have to move from my home of four years.

Whatever, at least I can say I'm in d-school and hello Ft. Lauderdale, here I come!

a glimmer of hope i suppose. anybody have any information on how many people are in this pool? (gatormichigan cough cough 🙂 )

Congrats JB. I really hope you ALL get in! Gainesville is alright, but the Dental school is so great... you won't meet a nicer student body.

Wish me luck at my Columbia interview on Friday... my new number one.

same here jb.. got that alternate list and still have hope like you.. i think i'm gonna relake the DAT to show them that i'm still very interested and just in case if i have to reapply for the next cycle. good luck with other schools!

The waitlist letter is basically a rejection letter, everyone that didn't get the call that I know of now has that same letter + you guys. I don't think they need a bunch of people on the waitlist.

Guess I'll just have to settle for the ivy league... sigh...
 
Congrats to all who got in.

I'm surprised to see that all of you stellar applicants got rejected. All I've heard for the past 2 years is that UF is all about numbers. Guess they've changed their tune.

I don't apply until next year but my stats are nearly identical to jb's. This is starting to worry me :scared:

Well if this IS true, then I guess I will just have to take a year to build up my application, and then reapply...I have heard that Florida is pretty good about accepting people if they show enough dedication to reapply. But hopefully we can advoid this entire scene by just having them accept me in the first place😀

Hey! I am glad your interview went well! can I ask you what Dr. Sposetti said said about how many spots are still open? And also are the open spots only for the people they interviewed after Dec 1st? Thanks for your help!!
 
they would not tell us how many spots they leave open, just that they do leave spots. It's not necessarily for the pple interviewing after dec 1. Someone told me that the first round 50 or so acceptances are handed out and then anyone else deemed acceptable is put on a waitlist in order of how badly they want you (the whole package they say).

I have been hearing everyone is accepting the seats, including me, so seats are dwindling down...near 100% board pass rates are too hard to pass up👍

Im not sure that they accpeted that many ppl so far- so I am sure that are still more sits for other ppl. Besides, im not 100% sure that I am going so you guys might have another sit to count on.
 
i know. But i go to UF and that is what i was told..they had 2000 applicants this year so UF is super-competitive now because of board scores.

yea, but they only interview 320 or so.
 
btw, when i was waiting for my interview i counted how many students in the freshman class graduated from UF undergrad.....40. In other words 50% of the class is from UF.
 
UF ppl seemed to be awesome so I dont mind this fact...

thanks C!...encouraging words i like.

i'm an "alternate" but am doing everything in my power to make the jump to the "accepted" side...retaking DAT, more shadowing, maybe a night course, etc...

hopefully i will be joining you as apart of the UF family next yr..
