OK-we all know that UHS accepts roughly 90% of those that they interview. This may be a dumb question but what are some of the reasons that those 10% of interviewees do not get in??

I have read alot of your posts and you seem very anxious and worried. I really truly sympathize with your situation. I have my files complete at 11 DO schools since mid July - I just got a rejection from CCOM and put on the waistlist at AZCOM. I have my TUCOM interview on 11/4. The August 2002 MCAT scores are in and I went from a 23Q to a 25P. It has been a long hard wait, and I wish there was some more responses or invitations. I am also getting anxious and worried, but I am learning that PATIENCE AND FAITH IN YOURSELF is the key in this damn tedious process. That is the best advice I can give you!

I know I know...patience is a virtue. I am just so excited about possibly getting into school...and then incredibly stressed out and paranoid about interviews! Anyways good luck with your applications!😉

Njdesi- when did you find out that you were waitlisted at AZCOM? Did they give you any reasons for it? I interviewed with you that day, I was the guy who stayed at the same hotel as you. I am still waiting to hear from them. Let me know. Thanks

NJdesi-
I would also be interested. I interviewed the same day and think we had the same panel. When/how did you find out?

Is CCOM interviewing already? There was a mix up with one of my LORs (which was delivered to the school Aug 17) and my file was "complete" until Oct 4.

nmh,
i interviewed last year at uhs, i got in..but, knew someone that was put on the waiting list....their concern with that person was the background in science was weak...so they weren't sure if she could handle med school...i haven't kept much contact w/ her..so i don't know if she eventually got in or not....
...just know your application...and just show your compasion for becomeing a med student.

njdesi,
tucom is gona be a weird interview...w/ 3-4 interviewers and 3-4 interviewees...so be prepared for that..i think there are threads going around.

always,

What did they consider a weak background? Pre-reqs only?

drtobe,
i'm not sure what they considered weak background...i think she had a different major than science..and only took the minimal in science courses, and some extra classes...i also remember that she took some time off from school...everything weighs into their decision...just know that if your profile has something that can be suspicious or that will give them doubt...they will ask you about it.....
i went to a lib arts college and they asked me about that...so just don't be too surprise and have an answer that is coherent to the overall question "are you going to be able to handle and be successful in med school."..they are trying to see if your profile will match up to you as a person...if it does then don't worry...if it doesn't then they will think twice...good luck
