Hey is anyone else out there going to UIC living in SSR? Anybody live in the "apartments"? I got stuck in what looks like on the floor plan the smallest room (in the whole building) in a 4 person apartment. I just wondered if anyone is familiar with the building and has an idea of how big or small the rooms are? The housing staff has been really quick to answer my emails until I started asking for approximate measurements of rooms...

In general, suite rooms are smaller than apartment rooms. However, I am not that familiar with the 4 person apartment room (x11).

I got assigned to a 3 ppl apartment. Did anyone manage to get the suites? They are a lot cheaper. I asked how come I got an apt when I picked suites as my top choices and housing just told me cuz the apt is bigger than the suites....how is that a reason?? Is it because of the length of the contract (academic/year)?
How many months do most people get? I was waivering between the academic and the yr plan, especially since during summer it's only $15 a day (that's like $450 a mon. or half normal rent, right??). Is there a difference between the two besides rent and length of time? I wished I got off-campus housing. Then I could start my in-state residency eligibility sooner. 🙁
Anyone know who's roommates with who yet?

Hi future classmates! I got a 2 person apt with a year-long contract. I was surprised that they didn't include roommate information in the packet containing the contract, but I guess a lot of people are still changing their mind regarding their living situation. I'm not too excited about being on the 15th floor :/ but I guess i could take the stairs and get into shape, haha. Anyone know if the beds in SSR are TwinXL?

I am so jealous! those rooms are freakin' HUGE and I bet you'll have a pretty awesome view from the 15th floor. I'm going to be on the 8th floor. I lived on the 10th floor in the dorms at UIUC undergrad and I loved it! It was far enough off the street that it was quiet, I had an amazing view, and I didn't feel bad rationalizing taking the stairs as my workout for the day.

You know you can just take the elevator, too.
Not all of the 2 room apartments have large room, most of those were taken by returning students. Some of the rooms are not that much bigger than the large suite room.

anyone know when we can move in??

The earliest date is the Wednesday before classes begin. However, they want that Wednesday to be used by freshmen only. The first day for everyone else is the Thursday.

So P1 moves in Thurs? Also I was wondering about the telephone service. They said that it's included but you need a LINK card. Is the LINK card also free then or do you have to pay?

You will need a LINK code to dial off campus. You will get some information from Campus Housing on how to activate the code over the phone.
Yes, P1s earliest move in should be Thursday, but I don't think it will be a big deal if you move in on Wednesday because of the two underclassman dorms on west campus-one, the larger one, will be closed this fall.
