UIC will be insanely expensive as an OOS resident (for my class OOS end up around 400k) and tuition jacks up every year by a large percentage...however, I would imagine new york won't be much better. Not to mention both are large cities which equates to pricey living expenses (Chicago will be cheaper than NY though).
I can't speak for NY, but UIC has done a good job as far as I'm concerned. The equipment and facilities sure as hell are getting old, but the amount of experience you get seems far above average. Message me if you have any questions.. because I rarely peruse these message boards anymore.
Only warning to future UIC students is the massive curriculum change they are implementing next fall. Shouldn't really impact those important clinical years though. It may end up being great, but transitions usually take a few years to smooth out all the ripples.
But hey, if you got to go into massive debt, go where you will be happiest to LIVE for four years. Either way you get the degree you want.
