Yeah, any recent status change folks get their packets yet?

Nope. I'm from Texas and didn't receive a packet yet after getting the status change. Assuming that snail mail is slowing down this time of year as it gets closer to the holiday.

season finale of Heroes makes waiting a lil easier

nothing here yet either and I live about 6 miles away...hmmm maybe tomorrow, chicago does have to worst mail service...so we will see

Nothing from the mailman today, either. Agree, they must have waited until Monday to drop them in the mail -- if they've even done it yet!

I sense today will be your guys' day.

Thanks. It'd sure be nice! Of course, it's going to my parents' house. For some reason, UIC opted to use my AMCAS "Permanent Address" instead of my "Mailing Address". Ah well. My mom will probably open it before she even calls to say it arrived.

I got this status today when I checked

Current Status
A final decision was made on your application on 12-05-07. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone.

I have not interviewed at this school. So does this mean a rejection?

I'm sorry to say it does.

And honestly. What the heck UIC?! Get the letters in the mail!

Sorry. When were you complete?

Sorry, Ooglan. How certain are we that the status change message with date (post-interview) is an acceptance? I'm getting nervous now. 🙁

Well, it held true for the previous round of post-interview applicants that I was in. And as far as I see, no news (albeit anxiety-producing) is good news. As in, nothing has disproved the theory that receiving that message post-interview means an acceptance. Now, if I were in this group who had received that message last Friday (but no letter yet), I'd call UIC after the mail has been delivered tomorrow if the letter still wasn't there (for Chicagoans). I'd ask them when the final decisions had been mailed. At least then the pins and needles wouldn't be as excruciating if they say they sent out decisions today, and I'd be able to "rest" for a few days. Regardless, I hope you guys get your acceptances tomorrow! :luck::luck::luck::luck:

Chill guys...last year decisions were made, and letter sent out a few days later. They have a ton of stuff to put in your acceptance letter, so things take a little time. Also, if you want Chicago, fill out the site request card and sent it asap. If you live around the area, drop it off. This will just speed things up and help you secure a spot at the Chicago campus. Congrats to those with the "acceptance message" 😀

status just changed from "application in process" to "applicant in process". hopefully an interview invite will be coming my way in the following weeks (fingers crossed)!!!! i was complete 11/12. Good luck everyone waiting to hear for interviews!

I hope everyone waiting for those acceptance letters gets them soon! Congrats everyone.

I'm new to SDN... I interviewed at UIC on Nov. 9 and my status changed this past Friday to "a decision has been made...wait 2 week", but just like many of you I have yet to receive anything from UIC so I called them up today to see what the delay was. I talked to Gary (one of the 2 admissions counselors) and he said that the letter was mailed out on Nov. 30 and that I should be receiving it any day now (note: I love like 25 miles from UIC). So hopefully all of us Chicago people will find out tomorrow or sometime soon!!

Garie is VERY nice. He was the one who let me change my interview date when something came up for work (Thanks, Phoenix!). Okay, any day, then. Excited! Thanks for calling and letting us know!

Also, another note for those of you who have not received an interview... I applied last year to UIC as well and didn't get in... one of the major reasons they told me afterwards was because my application was reviewed late. I had submitted my application last year by late September, however, they did not review it until March so I didn't interview until April, at which time they only offered as they said a "handful of acceptances"... so i asked them how can I make sure that this year my file gets reviewed early (because clearly applying early is no guarantee that you will be reviewed early) and they said the only thing you can do is call every Thursday. So this year I did that and it paid off!! So make sure to call every Thursday especially if they haven't reviewed your application (when you call them make sure to ask them if your app has gone to the committee yet and if it hasn't ask why and if they can please look into it).

Yeah, honestly, he was the brightest part of my interview day there. By far, haha...

I called adcoms today (i've called probably every other thursday since i was complete in early sept.) and a counselor told me something i had never heard of before. First of all, I haven't been interviewed yet and my status page said "Applicant in Process" for about 8 weeks and changed to "Application is in process" just yesterday. After having read this thread, I thought i was just being passed over for now, but the counselor said that whether adcoms decided to interview me or not is unknown because "application is in process" just means the decision has not been keyed into their system yet. also, he said that there is no such things as a "re-review". He said they meet once to look over your file and if they like you, they invite you for an interview but otherwise, you're done for the 2008 cycle altogether. I was shocked to hear this but I swear I heard it all right - I called just this afternoon and clarified it over and over with him. Has anybody heard this before? Has anybody gone from "Applicant in process" to "Application is in process" and then got an interview? Or should I prepare to be heartbroken? This process literally is killing me.... i don't eat right and my stomach drops every time I read something negative.. UIC is my first choice and I really just want to get in... someone help me out here. 😕 🙁

Man, I can't believe the letter hasn't gotten to ANYONE yet. I've been reading this thread every day, and even I'm starting to go crazy! The holiday catalogs must be slowing down the mail or something. Tomorrow has to be the day!

Ugh. Patience can only be a virtue for so long... 😉

i agree, i'm in the same position as you and capri and all others!! league, thanks for the words of encouragement 🙂

it is indeed a big white envelope.
i hope tomorrow is the day of all of you who are waiting! :luck:

I love you!!! Thanks so much for the info. I haven't really been calling schools. I've been trying to be patient and thinking that the interviews will eventually come- that time is over for me. I'm going to start being proactive. Do they only tell you your status on Thursdays? Why only Thursday?

Do they send post-interview waitlist/re-reviews in small envelopes? I remember hearing something about how we were supposed to be emailed if we were not accepted... Just wondering if mail is the only method of communication here.

Question: is this "packet" thing I've read about the thing with the sheets that ask where you want to go? like Urbana/Rockford/Peoria vs. Chicago track or is it something else?

Looks like most people on this thread are post-interview (best luck to you all!!!!)

I'm still "Applicant in Process", completed early Nov.

Anyone else on my boat (the one struggling to keep up )??

*They don't reject anyone pre-interview, do they?

Yes, they unfortunately do.

"Do they send post-interview waitlist/re-reviews in small envelopes? I remember hearing something about how we were supposed to be emailed if we were not accepted... Just wondering if mail is the only method of communication here."

I'm a little fuzzy in my memory here, but I think I was both sent an email and a small snail-mail envelope saying I was waitlisted in late march/early april, a month after my interview last year.

I think you guys can rest assured right now, considering nobody's received their packet yet. I.e. I would only start to worry if some guy in California posts that he received his Tuesday. I think today's your day.
