Strange. The website says its down for routine maintenance. I thought that only happened on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Wrote to the webmaster and this was the reply:

"We are applying semi annual database patches and did not include the students in our scheduled notifications.
Thanks for pointing this out - in the future we will make sure we include the student list serve on these planned outages.
Assuming all goes well - It should be back up by 6pm
On the plus side the upgrades will help us move toward reducing, or eliminating, the need for Tuesday and Thursday Maintenance.
Don"

still decision pending.

Did anyone get the status change?
Or has anyone tried calling the admissions to ask if they have sent out any acceptance for April?

Ahhh... it's May already. :scared:

Thank you UIC for being my first allopathic acceptance. You have been really nice to me, but your out-of-state tuition is beyond ridiculous. 58k a year? Luckily, I have been accepted to NYMC too, so I hope someone really cool from the waitlist gets in today or tomorrow, as I have just given up my spot. Good luck guys.

I will be doing the same. UIC OOS Tuition = 😱

Yeah, uic oos tuition is steep, no doubt about it. However, if you are receiving financial aid, that aid goes towards tuition and books AND cost of living. The cost of living in Illinois is actually quite low. When you factor in the total cost of attendance, uic is still expensive, yes, but actually on par with alot of other schools. Do a search for the new msar in excel format (some amazing person put that up on SDN) and see for yourself. I keep a copy under my pillow and bring it out periodically when I'm having trouble sleeping.

All I know is I did my own math, and the total cost of attendance to go to UIC for OOS is roughly $330,000. I've been lucky enough to be accepted to another private school, and their total cost of attendance is almost $100,000 less!

What does bump mean?

Any status changes for April interviewees?

You "bump" a thread when you add a short reply to the thread so that the thread is bumped up to the top of the page to get more attention.

and still decision pending for me 😀

and still decision pending for me 😀

OMG😱😱😱

I just checked my status again, and I got this:

A final decision was made on your application on . Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone.

Does anyone else get the status change?
I hope this still means a good news.

I think it's very very likely to be good news. Congrats!

marylandMD, when did you interview?

i interviewed march 18th and was told that my file hasnt been reviewed yet?!?!😕

I hope it is. :luck:

That's weird.
I interviewed on April 11th at Chicago campus.
Good luck!:luck:

hopefully it will be good news but, I head from a good source that UIC wont be offering any acceptances to anybody that interviewed in April. Just because they already accepted too many people. Everyone will be kept on hold until the May meeting after the last interview day May 20th.

Still Decision pending...

I also heard that no offers would be made until after the final admissions committee meeting.

I thought I remember seeing somewhere...maybe last year's thread...that if there was no specific date of the final decision that was a rejection, but a specific date meant an acceptance.

I was reading the old posts, and I found the one above.
I guess I'm expecting a rejection as my status change had no specific date on it and people said no acceptance was given out for April interviewees. 😳
Oh, well. I guess my interview was not so good. 😛
I'll let you guys know when I receive the actual letter.

Good luck everyone!

Has anyone heard back from the Urban Medicine program? From what I understand about 80 accepted students applied to the program. Do you guys have heard or know someone who has been accepted into the program?

Hopefully one of yall gets my spot...I sent the withdrawal in awhile ago.

Have they begun compiling a waitlist, or are they still at the stage where they continue to re-review apps?

Hi guys,

I just interview last week (5/6), not sure if anyone posted the info already, but here's what I've heard.

They told us that they didn't offer any acceptance for the people interviewed in April. They rejected some people, and the rest they'll re-evaluate again the end of May among with the May interviewees.

They are waiting for the 5/15 deadline to determine how many seats will open up since 60% of their accepted students have another acceptance elsewhere. So after they meet and offer acceptances, they'll generate a ranked waitlist that includes students who didn't get in and weren't rejected from both April and May.

They waitlist is divided into 4 tiers (25 people each), and they say being in the first 2 is a good sign since the waitlist movement can take up to 50 people. However, 2 years ago they only went through a little bit of the 1st tier.

So the earliest we'll hear back from them would be 1st week of June.

Hope this information helps. And the waiting game begins AGAIN... 😎

Forgot to mention, this year, they are interviewing 900 people and offering acceptance to 600 people for 300 seats.

Also, they take 21% out of state students, the most of them are from California. Surprise!! HAHA.

Good luck, and keep the fingers crossed!🙂

Yup, I'm an out-of-state student, from California. I sent in my withdrawal e-mail today. FYI, I was placed in the Urbana-Rockford track. Good luck! :luck:

Is anyone going to the last interview day tomorrow?

Anyone know when the admissions committee meets again?

According to my phone conversation with one of their admissions officers last Thursday, the committee won't meet until the end of May and applicants will probably not hear of their status until early June. The admissions officer mentioned that they had given out a fair number of acceptances this year and that the committee wanted the May 15th deadline to pass to gauge how many more spots they had available to accept and to waitlist.

Wondering if they are meeting today~~~🙄
So anxious! Show me some love, UIC!

they are not.
I just called. They told me the Adcom will meet next week. They said it will be an all day meeting.

called admissions today, was told there will be one more meeting and those waiting to hear back should receive something in the mail the 2nd week of june. good luck everyone :luck:

great... the 2nd week of June, the week the whole family is out of the country.

what's the phone number for UIC admissions??

has anyone on here gotten a petition transfer from UPR tracks to chicago??

bump.

bumpbump.

Somebody posted another thread today that they were "recently" accepted to UIC and had to decide by the end of today whether they would attend there or Tufts. So I think final decisions will be made over the next couple days...probably Thursday.

For everybody's information, I would no longer be too comfortable with a status change to "A decision has been made on..." on the online status thing. Last year around this time they cut the remaining unaccepted down to a small waitlist....I was included in those rejected-->while my status change didn't have a date associated with it (the spot where that would have been was blank), I wouldn't fret over the existence of a date or not, as I don't think that's reliable enough information to fret over. I also wouldn't totally fret if you do get a status change, because it darn well could be an acceptance as much as it could be a rejection.

Good luck to all.

Do you know how many they accepted last year from the ppl on the waitinglist?

bump.

Saw that today--check your statuses! http://www.med.uiuc.edu/sa/About/UC-Match%202008.pdf

yes.

yep i got a status change..probably not an acceptance. ccom here i come!

haha...that's interesting that your application had a date and mine did not (though it could also mean nothing). I'm in the exact same situation, neolium--very happy with CCOM if i get a thin envelope in the mail in the next few days. Like I said, though, I wouldn't lose hope about this status change yet (but like you said I wouldn't celebrate either).
