Just wondering if anyone recently received this letter requesting that you apply to their program. Does anyone know if another interview is necessary in addition to the one I will have at UIC? Don't I have to be accepted first to the SOM before entering a PhD program?

Any advice would be helpful.

I also recieved that letter. I didn't apply there, so I don't know what the deal is. Are they just mailing these letters out to everyone?

I guess so since they addressed me as 'medical school applicant' instead of my name.

They should consider using names if they want to recruit people.

interesting thing is, i got one from both uic and uiuc- but i had thought it was the same program, but i guess not.

so i bet you do have to get another interview apart from the one for uic.

Yeah, I also received the UIC one yesterday.

the UIC program is more "like" MSTP and the uiuc program allows you to get a PhD in anything you want (or even a JD). in a few years or so the UIC program will in fact probably get MSTP funding and officially be MSTP, but right now it isn't. anyhow, i interviewed at UIC for their pseudo-MSTP program so if you guys have any questions about the interview don't hesitate to PM or whatever. lates.
