It's a step up from stripping.
What's the problem with kids today? Are they really so unresourceful? Whatever happened to selling drugs and collecting money for the boss with a cricket bat?

Might as well be a stripper and maybe a high class escort if you're hot enough.

Being just a casual hooker seems risky in the long run... Yea you'll be 100% safe from HIV using condoms, there's other nasty crap out there that you can get if you're being banged by 5-6 dudes every day , even with a condom... statistically anyway.

To be honest I thought this thread was about the University of Kentucky instead of the actual UK. I was going to say, haven't they ever heard of loans? But I'd imagine the physician reimbursement rates are a lot lower over there than they are here.

Here's a story about a pre-med at Tulane:

Sugar Babies at Tulane http://www.thehullabaloo.com/article_c2629d52-e0af-11e0-8a55-001a4bcf6878.html

Though Amanda - a public health major who plans to go to medical school in the future - uses Seeking Arrangement to pay her tuition bills, she began advertising online while she was still in high school in a big city in the Midwest.
"I started meeting people about a year and a half, two years ago, when I had just turned 17, because that's [the legal age of consent]," Amanda said. "I used to put up ads on Craigslist, and then a guy who I met with told me about the website, so I decided to check it out."
Since she has started using Seeking Arrangement, most of Amanda's expenses have been covered by sugar daddies.
Looks like she already has those "awkward" interview questions about her "extracurricular activity" covered:
Though she thinks that she will continue to use Seeking Arrangement throughout her four years of college, Amanda sometimes thinks about the future ramifications of meeting men through the website. ... "But I figure, no one has to know, and if it ever comes up, I can just say that I was 18 and dumb."
Sounds like a lot of the recent IA threads

The sad part is, I actually know several people who have been involved with this website--and they actually make A LOT of money through the "arrangements." I guess if they are okay with it then I shouldn't judge them. (But I still do judge them and I feel guilty about doing so... Cognitive dissonance? sigh.)

I have a friend (not a med student) who is a stripper. She makes bank. She also has a revolving door of sugar daddies that she meets through her job who help her pay for college/buy her presents. I honestly can't say I find it any more degrading or dehumanizing than flipping burgers for $7 an hour.

There's about six things wrong with this post

this happens in the US already. Type sugarbaby or something like that into google and you'll see the websites of college grads looking to pay off debt.

Straight males have sex with men for money.

Interesting comments on the article...

The biggest ****** in the country are Lawyers. They will screw anything for money.
Awesome. Screw a doctor, before they screw you.
Can you imagine going in to heart bypass surgery, looking up at the surgeon as the anesthesia is starting to take affect, and thinking (but not being able to talk), "OMG, I had my way with that woman and now she's going to be operating on my heart!"
She's gonna break your heart, man......
