I am just curious as to whether anyone has heard anything from UMass: interviews/rejections/acceptances...anything!!!...Please, can anyone tell me what is going on out there in Worcester?! 😕

There is very little info on SDN about whats happening at UMASS.

This thread, UMASS Medical ,was acitve through early Dec. but has since died down.

At the least you will have an idea of who on SDN is trying for UMASS

A few people have posted interview invites on another thread--but I haven't seen any decision-type news yet. I'll bump the other thread up for ya, if you're interested...

I would looooooove to know when we can expect some decisions out of them...

That's the thread I was thinking of, conure. But no matter how many times I read it, it still doesn't tell me when I'm gonna hear from UMass. Damn.

Good luck, guys.

I found something.

I have been periodically checking the Official Acceptances thread looking for someone to post a UMASS acceptance.

Apparently JMD29 interviewed on Nov. 6 and was accepted on Dec. 18, congrats to him.

hey, my best friend's brother just finished UMass-worcester medical school in 2002.....

apparently he really liked it, and he's in an awesome residency at yale right now....

for more info, e-mail me

Just bumpin up this thread cause I'm really dying to hear something from UMass. Did they say at the interview when we might hear? I missed the dean's talk somehow.

So, the person that posted on the official acceptances thread heard in 6 weeks, huh? So, I guess I can wait another week or so before I really start to go insane. Perfect.

I interviewed in october and got in exactly a month later. The dean said that acceptances could come anywhere from 2 weeks from the interview to the spring, and they can't have more than 100 places filled at once. I think he said they interview about 50% of applicants and then accept about 50% of interviewees. Good luck!!!

Any umass students out there??? What are the positives (other than the low cost!) and negatives? Thanks!

from what I've seen and heard they don't have a really good minority support network.

At least y'all have HAD interviews at UMass. I had some residency issues because I was born in the U.K. and so eve though I've lived in Mass for 15 years now, still haven't heard from them regarding an interview! 😱 😕

Hey,
I had a friend who applied to UMass last year and heard nothing until March! Then he got an interview invite and was subsequently accepted (and ultimately matriculated at a NYC school). My impression is that they (UMass) are inefficient and slow, but then again I don't really have personal experience.

Hey, congratulations, komachi!!! Do you think that's where you'll ultimately be heading, or are you still debating/waiting to hear from more schools? To me, the first positive that comes to mind is the early pt contact--not a unique feature, but a major plus for me. And students seem to be very happy there.

Congrats!

I posted something in either an acceptance thread or a UMass thread about a girl I know getting in. Look at one of the older UMass threads. I don't remember when, and I surely don't know when she interviewed and her stats and stuff.

thanks, wallie!
i will probably go there but am still waiting to hear from other schools, and then i'll decide for sure. 🙂 the students i met did seem very happy. good luck!

Finally!!

Got an interview invite via email yesterday (odd, considering that it was Sunday)....anyway it is for 2/11/03, so it looks like their turnaround time (notification to actual interview) isn't terrible. Woooo!!

IMHO, yer insane if you turn down UMass. I interviewed there last week, and the school kicks some major ass!

Congrats to JumboFool on getting an invite.

(--tedstriker puts on cutthroaty premed hat--) Hey, come to think of it, komachi, I think you should turn down UMass. It's not that great after all. Heh, heh...

Hey, guys, hang in there. UMass does in fact take a while, but they really look at the applications thoroughly. It's still fairly early in their interview season, so don't freak out by any means. Also, if you get in, GO! I love it here and don't regret my decision at all. Best of luck!

Gary
