UMass match list?

I am posting for a friend who is trying to decide b/w UMass and a few privates schools. She cannot the UMass match list anywhere online. Does anyone know where it can be found? Thanks.

What is the UMass match list?? Type in UMass for a search term (above) and plenty of forums pop up.

UMass grads are competitive for top residency programs. I had a friends that just graduated and she is doing peds at Mass General. Another went to Stanford for IM.

They don't publish it for some reason. When I interviewed there, they briefly passed the match list around the table. No one got to keep it...
I don't know why they hide it. It is pretty good.

Azpremed - has your friend been accepted to UMass already? When I interviewed, they implied most of us would not hear until March.

I have a hard copy of the list that I got in the interview. I suppose I could fax it to her if she really wanted to see it.

Since UMass is my top choice, tell her not to go! (just kidding).

When did you interview? I did Oct 21 and as of today, nothing. Who said "most will hear in March?"

Yeah, she has been in there for awhile. I want to say since late Nov. or early Dec. She was shocked to hear from them so early cuz I think she was expecting to hear later in the spring. I know it is one of her top choices. Now that I know that the list is not easily available, let me email her and see how desperate she is to see it. Maybe she will take you up on the fax....

I interviewed on 11/4. I believe it was Paraskos (spelling?) who said something to the effect of "you will have heard from us by early April". He then went on to explain how UMass can never have more than 100 acceptances out simultaneously, and that they typically wait to finish all their interviews before they start sending out large numbers of acceptances. Since UMass typically interviews until Feb/March, that makes sense with him saying "early April". I said "March" in my earlier post because I am naively optimistic.

In fact, if you look at last years entering class for UMass, many on the forum were accepted in March. One after another. It is pretty cool to read the 2003 UMass posts from beginning to finish. I am sure that it is similar to what will happen to the 2004 one.

Don't decide on a school based on the match list, especially a public institution where a large percentage of the class simply doesn't care about rankings of residency programs, etc. They care about location and the teaching. So, I don't think the match list is on line, it is posted in the hallway of the school and they usually publish it in the local newspaper. I would say that 70% or so stay in Massachusetts, and nearly half stay in Worcester. My rough estimates from the 2003 list

1 ER
About 10 general surg, 3-4 at umass, others in maine, connecticut, NYC
4-5 ortho (2 at umass, 1 at harvard combined, 1 in connecticut)
At least 15 pediatrics or med/pedes of which I think 8-10 are at umass, the rest at Childrens, MGH, Connecticut, Maine
30-40 Internal medicine - 5-6 at umass, 2-3 at MGH, another 10 in boston somewhere, others scattered around the country including UCLA, arizona, JOhns Hopkins, NYC and NY state
1 derm person
4-5 OB/GYN - they were at brigham, yale, somewhere in texas
A few Psych, can't remember where
Around 10 Family med, most in rural areas in new england
5-10 radiology, some in boston, some in worcester
5-10 anesthesia, some in worcester, some in boston

Being at Umass is not about competition with others for certain spots, etc. There were some people who were not thrilled with their match, but some of those were also doing couples matching.
