Hey everyone.

I found this website that gets people from Australia into medicine by helping in the UMAT. I think there's a lot of people trying to get in nowadays and the competition is hotting up. Anyone know any similar sites?

Anyone else in other countries have similar high demand for medicine as a career? The UMAT is an aptitude test in Australia that is designed to pick the students that they reckon would be best to be doctors. MedEntry UMAT preparation provides prep for it.

MedEntry sucks!
i did Ultimate Online Distance Prep by Icarus College and Distance Prep Package by MedEntry. Icarus College is much much more better and useful! i got 98, 95, 100

MedEntry is rubbish, Period.

I went with Icarus as well; got 9x, 9x, 100 as well. (don't remember the exact marks)

by the way, stop advertising here, seeing that this is your first (and probably only) post.

I agree totally and especially after they were caught ripping off students http://groups.yahoo.com/group/talk-umat/

The word is out Medentry = Missed entry.

I know there are a lot of courses out there, but i think MedEntry is by far the best one. I've done a lot of comparing, and the MedEntry had many more practice questions and papers and they were much more similar to the actual UMAT.

I did the MedEntry course and managed to score 238 (100th percentile) in 2009. They had heaps of practice drill questions and practice papers that were really similar to the actual UMAT. They also gave you percentile rankings so you know your strengths and weaknesses and separated the drills into sections so you could work on the areas that need the most work. I think the detailed guides they had also helped because it explained a lot of the reasoning behind how ACER makes the questions and what they want to get out of them so you can try to beat the UMAT. I also did a 2-day MedEntry workshop with an experienced lecturer who had worked with ACER before and knew their tricks. I hear they also have private tutoring and interview practice available in some courses. Their website is http://www.medentry.edu.au/ and it explains the packages they have depending on how much help you want.

In my experience, I think its defnitely worthwhile preparing for the UMAT. After all, you don't want to regret not preparing and missing out on your Uni course just because of a poor UMAT score. If I hadn't done the MedEntry course, I wouldn't have done so well in UMAT and I wouldn't have gotten into Medicine at UNSW. I'm very glad I did. If you're going to do a UMAT prep course, you may as well do one that you know is good.
