extremely thankful to be in the position and have narrowed down my list to these schools. I really want to specialize as well.
UMB (OOS)
Pros
-offers instate tuition after first year
-Rich history
-great facilities
-smaller class size of 130ish
Cons
-Baltimore, a bit scared of the safety issue here
-furthest from home (4 hour drive)
- not sure if it’s good clinically
NYU
pros
-large network
-loved my interview + being in nyc
-50 min drive from home
-lots of opportunities for outreach and forming connections
-strong clinically
Cons
- $$$
- large class size, harder to stand out
-bad rep?? Per sdn and Reddit lol
Tcdm
Pros
-supportive faculty
-nice facilities
- students seemed really happy there
-1.5 hr drive from home
-safe area
Cons
-newer school, first class graduated 4 years ago.
-mot sure how great it would be for specializing
-$$, less expensive than nyu but still on the pricey side with 97k tuition then housing.
If anyone has insight about the schools outside of what I know please let me know. Feeling stuck. Cost wise I know that UMB would be my best choice but cost difference isn’t an issue if one school will help me become a better dentist and help me specialize more than the other.
Thank you!
