I got an interview invite this week. My primary was released on Nov 19th... would someone kindly give me a brief outlook for the interview? on the letter it says 20mins haha which feel short =) also do they interview a few of us one time or one student a time? thanks 🙂

Wanted to let all of you know that I withdrew my acceptance to UMDNJ. I absolutely loved the school and I wish the best to all of you out there who are hoping to get in. When it came down to it, I decided I needed to stay in Florida for a while longer. Good luck everybody!!!!

Hey all. Last week I decided to send in my deposit to UMDNJ...so I hope to see you all next year!

I made a UMDNJ SOM Class of 2013 Facebook group too (sorry if one already exists, I poked around looking for one for a while and couldn't find one anywhere). So...if you're going to be in the class of 2013, join it!

Hey just a quick question to anybody who sent in their deposit to UMDNJ...I mailed mine to them last Wednesday via certified USPS Express Mail (i.e., overnight) and haven't gotten any kind of confirmation from them that they've received it. Did they send anyone else a confirmation email or anything? I was going to call them today but then forgot about it until a few minutes ago....

That's good to hear. I was freaking out that the deposit somehow hadn't gotten there in time, making me miss today's deadline :scared:. Knowing that they were just being slow about sending out a reply makes me feel much better 😀.

you should call them tomorrow just in case. they would probably not immidiately drop you anyways since the ADCOM does not meet until this friday for this months interviewees

Just reviving this thread for those of us that are waiting to be called today. Good luck everyone!

Best of luck everyone. I'm thinking about it myself, but they might not get all the calls out today.

Just got a letter with online information (setting up accounts, etc.) for accepted students.

I don't know why my Blackberry cell didn't get the call; maybe the area I was in didn't have service but my voicemail got it. I checked about half an hour ago and found out. I am excited and unless some MD school gives me the opportunity, I will most likely go here. I love the school and hope to meet my future classmates soon!!! This is my first acceptance osteo or allo. Congrats to my fellow future classmates and good luck to those who are still in the process!!!

I am in!!!!!!! Hello class of 2013!!!!!!! ModernChemistry, were you interviewed on wednesday?? Maybe I met you. PM me.

can anyone offer any insight with regard to tuition and living expenses in the stratford area? how easy is it for non-residents to achieve residency status by the second year?

When Rachel called to offer me an acceptance, she said that any OOS student would be considered in-state by the time he/she was a "sophomore"/M-II.

Just wondering if anybody who interviewed on Dec 11th got in too. That was my interview date.

From reading this thread, It seems like everyone who gets in receives a call on the 3rd Friday. Everyone else seems to get waitlisted or rejected. Any exceptions to my observation? Please prove me wrong...please 🙁

Hey, to answer your question, UMDNJ still calls people on the Monday following the 3rd Friday, because sometimes they cannot get to everyone on that Friday after they meet. This was the case with one of the students giving a tour on my interview date. You can call on Monday and they will tell you what list you are on if you just give your name. That is what I did, although I was put on the waitlist. Good luck

Try not to worry. They make calls on Mondays too if need be. I got mine on a Monday. Apparently smooch01's tour guide did as well. I remember being in your position, reading SDN on the Friday I was expecting the call and watching people post on how they got accepted. It's easy to jump to conclusions that if other people got called that day, and you did not, that you didn't get accepted. I think I may have also asked if people got called the Monday after. They do. Try not to worry about it.

Good luck everyone, and congrats again to the incoming class of 2013.

When they call on Friday, are you supposed to receive an e-mail confirmation as well?

they only send an email to comfirm interviews. When i got the acceptance call, they sent me a letter about a wk (maybe 2wks) after the call.

-------
Congratulations to those accepted!👍

Thanks. Hopefully they get the letters out soon. It would be nice to have a physical acceptance.

Wohooooo! It turns out I got in! 😀 I loved the school

I gave them a call already expecting them to say I was rejected or waitlisted but she told me it turns out that I was on the accepted list and she didn't know why I wasn't called. She said my file wasn't in the office but maybe they misdialed my number. I hope they didn't make a mistake because my file is in the prematric office.

I am curious, why are you going to give up a seat at an osteopathic medical school if you get into an allopathic medical school?

Well, I just don't want to rule anything out. Plus, I still have another osteopathic application outstanding. I want to see what I can get and weigh the pros and cons of all the schools that I can get into. Hence, I would entertain any other interview invites from all other schools so I can make a well informed decision. With all this in mind, UMDNJ-SOM is in-state, 30 minutes or so from my house, and is really tight-knitted. I really, really love UMDNJ-SOM but I want to make sure that all other schools are considered equally so that in the end, I have no regrets where I go, MD or DO. Plus, all the other $$$ I put into the other schools warrants at least a second look wherever and whenever I get interviewed and subsequently accepted.

N.B. This is the only other school I have interviewed and got accepted this cycle.

Does UMDNJ SOM give preference to in state or oos applicants are considered equally? Thanks

did anyone hear anything about the wait list?

is there a way to find out your rank or where you stand if you call?

Anyone know if you want to send an updated transcript with fall semester grades, do they accept the updated transcript directly? I was planning on sending it both to aacomas and directly to the schools as well. I know a few schools (Albany) don't want ANYTHING from you after you pay the secondary application fee. Will UMDNJ take it?

Thanks for the reply. Makes sense. If you have any questions that you have do not hesitate to let me know.

Yes they will take it. Call them to see if they want it sent to AACOMAS or if they will accept it directly.

My Primary was released then too, i think i mailed my secondary before thanksgiving. Now i am wondering why i havn't gotten anything from UMDNJ yet. Did they mail you something or did it come thru email?

I am not sure if you have seen this link yet, http://more.studentdoctor.net/interviewlist.php?school=18 , but hopefully it answers your question about interviews. From what I gather I think its one-to-one.

After 2 months after sending the primary, I called and was told to send in secondary even if I did not get the invite. I did send in the secondary 3 weeks ago. So, I call today to see if they got every thing. The lady on the phone said"Your file is with the director. She will send you snail mail on whether your file is complete or not"😕:meanie:😱

What do I need to do to get an answer on whether my file is complete or not?

hey guys what do you think the chances are of interview this late in the game....i sent my application in a few days ago....

Hey all. I drove back to Stratford a couple of days ago just to look around and get a feel for living options in the area. I'm curious - where exactly do most UMDNJ-SOM students choose to live? Are certain neighboring towns known for delivering more "bang for the buck" when it comes to housing costs? Is commuting a good idea?

Most students live within a 10-20 minutes radius. In April, during Admitted Students Day the afternoon will consist of the Landlords of the local complexes showing you their apartments.

can I crash on anyone's couch for the prematric program?? I am from Florida and if I choose to attend it would need to be something like this. I cant pay rent on 2 apts as my wife will be meeting me after this program...

Does anybody have a ballpark figure on the number of incoming students that usually go to that? It'd be really great to meet some people from the 2013 class, but if few people show it'd be somewhat less exciting (for that purpose, at least).

I also really need to figure out living arrangements for next year...anybody up for going in together on renting a house or something?

Lots of students attend admitted students day. I'd ballpark it at maybe half the class? Don't worry, a lot of people show up. It's a great opportunity to learn more about the school, curriculum, community, and meet your classmates.

It's also good for finding people who want to rent a house/apartment together. The admissions office also produces a list of apartments in the area as well as a list of incoming students looking for people to share an apartment/house.

Hello all. I am interested in applying to UMDNJ in the next cycle and I was wondering if any of the currently accepted students would mind sharing some of their stats with me: GPA, MCAT, clinical hrs, volunteering hrs, ect. Thanks I would really appreciate it. Good luck to all still waiting to hear something.

Admitted Students Day is a great event and you should do your best to attend. You can now really take in the school and the atmosphere without the nervous knots of the interview. You can talk with as many current students as you can and get some ideas about what it will be like starting next August.

Also, in the afternoon there will be student clubs as well as representatives from many of the apartment complexes that are around the school area. So you can check out what is available.

I got a call today that they have sent me an email but it bounced back.... What date is the event? Hope I get the email tomorrow...

This is part of the email “Reception for Accepted Students’/Housing Day Event to be held on Friday, March 27, 2009 from 8:45 AM – 4:30 PM. This event will be held in the Academic Center on our Stratford, New Jersey campus, and your participation should be confirmed by returning the attached attendance form to the Admissions Office by Friday, February 20, 2009.

btw there is a lot of people that got the email, so why is there only a handful of people posting here?! (the school doesnt blank copy) I am anxious to know all my classmates!

3.63, 31P, ~ 500 volunteering hours, maybe 40-50 clinical hours.

BTW, why not apply this cycle? Are you done with the prereqs, the MCAT, etc?

no open couches???

anyway, my stats are: 3.1 science GPA, 3.9 non-science GPA...(I know, i know) 28 MCAT, not very many volunteer hours (maybe 300) but I was in a club for 3 years and became VP...they liked that ALOT... hope you get in!!!

I am done with pre-req, but need more clinical hours and MCAT. I just didn't want to rush it this cycle, but I really like UMDNJ.
