Ok cool. I wonder what's going through their mind as they review my application. I'm non-traditional. Left college 3 years ago. My friends from school are already in their 3rd or 4th year in med schools.Ahhhh, oh well life happens. What's the average age in UMDNJ? The students there seemed very young(23ish).
 
I'm wondering the same thing...i was asked at my interview if i had applied to MD and DO and i answered honestly and said i had applied to both and a large number of schools at that. I also let it slip that my tour guide cracked my neck...apparently we weren't supposed to talk about him doing this but i didn't hear him tell us that. 🙁

I really like this school though ... they even have motorcycle parking!!!

few hours later and no call. wow, this totally ruins my weekend. Guess I'm gonna have to sit tight and hope they have a few calls to make on monday as well. 🙁
 
Nothing for me too.Hope things look better on Monday.

I interviewed 10/8, but that doesn't mean they voted on you. Good luck.
 
I interviewed 10/10. So what will happen in the event that some applications were not voted on during this most recent session? Are those applications then pushed off to the next committee meeting? Can we call and ask if we havent heard anything from them?
 
I interviewed 10/16 and they said we would be voted on, but probably wouldn't hear until monday or tuesday, so don't worry too much that you didn't hear friday night. I also heard the admissions office say that there were 75 of us that they were reviewing, so that is probably another reason why everyone did not hear back that day.
 
I interviewed on September 25th and still havent heard back from them. Do you guys think I should call and bother them in case they forgot about me?
 
If you interviewed in the month of October then they made a decision on your application yesterday. They go over all the applicants in one day and will not meet again until the third Friday of November (or maybe first week of Dec. since that is Thanksgiving).

Yes, when I was there for my interview they said they meet the third Friday of every month and they go over all the applicants for that month and that we would most likely hear the following Mon, Tues, and Wed. So don't get worried if you don't hear on Mon, you could very well hear on Tues or Wed. I wish all of you good news next week. :luck::luck:
 
i was also told there were over 70 applications to go over. lets see what happens on Monday.
 
I was waitlisted. Called this morning.Oh well.
 
I just called and was told i would receive correspondence by the end of the week. When i asked rachael if i had been waitlisted or accepted she said she didn't know... 😕😕😕

hey if you were waitlisted you can make an appointment with Paula Watkins. She is very nice, and she goes over the application with you and can give you hints of how to get "more" points to get accepted.

Rachael. Its funny because as soon as I gave my first name to her, she immediately stated I was waitlisted. I was taken aback since she kinda knew the information just from the top of her head without checking my file. I guess my experience is different from yours.

Yes she is. She gave me her card after my interview . I actually tried calling her this morning after I got the news to explain to me the reason behind the decision but couldn't get through to her.

thats really weird. She just told me that i would hear something in a week but that all the phone calls had not been made yet. hm...idk whether to be hopeful or despondent.
 
yea same here, i interviewed on the 3rd and called this morning. Rachel told me all the phone calls were not made yet and would be made by the end of the day...soo hopefully soon!
 
I guess that's good news for you guys. They would let you know if you were waitlisted.
 
I gave my name but she might not have caught it. If anyone else wants to call please post what you were told here so we can get more information on what to expect

hey man,
i called a little while ago...no response it went to a voice mail and I didnt feel like leaving a message...I guess they were being bombarded by phone calls from 70 people, so they might have just called it a day...i dont know...did anyone get a phone call today? I wish they would just tell us, without torturing us like this...
 
yeah i hear you. UMDNJ is my top choice. I wish they would get back to me so i can cancel my other interviews and thus free up spots for other applicants...
 
Hey guys, it seems that only andexterouss got a call today. I dunno what that means. All I know is that everyone who's called has gotten the "we haven't called everyone yet, but we'll correspond with you within the week" answer. The thing is, it's already 5ish and I don't think they'll be making any calls today. My best guess is either 1) they'll call 2morrow or 2) they'll send something via snail mail. It is very torturous of what's happening considering UMDNJ SOM usually responds quickly. I suppose it's the fact that they did have so many people to review that's messing with things. The only thing we can do at this point is to have patience and hope for the best.
 
I got an idea! We can all meet up somewhere and take a road trip to UMDNJ and Phenol can be our frontman to demand answers! lol

Sad to say, but that's actually our only logical move. I'll crawl to them and have massive rug burns on my knees to show them how serious I am. But on a serious note, I can tell that u want this bad. As do I. These past few days have been so grueling and "long" would be the appropriate word here.

Let me take a guess... I bet you don't sleep well at night. When u do eat, it's more out of necessity than want. And even after u eat, u get a "I wanna vomit" thing going on. On top of that, u deprive urself of having any sort of fun cuz there's only one thing on ur mind and until there's closure, u're not entitled to entertainment. Ur entertainment is refreshing and perusing the SDN forums. :laugh: I'm only guessing this cuz it's what I'm going through and I'm sure that alot of u guys feel the same.

Anyways, now is not the time to panic. If we don't hear by Wednesday night, then it's officially begging time. Have a day people!

lol...i sleep, i eat...i am worrying about all this though...a lot. Wish we had more information to work with.

For instance, does an acceptance always mean you get a phone call or do some people just receive notice via snail mail???
 
I wish you guys all of the luck in the world.

The only thing that you can do is to be patient. They had a lot of applicants this month and they are trying to get to everyone.

Try to do things to keep your minds off of the wait, although I remember that this was next to impossible.

I do not know anything about the status of any applicant.

I have an ~3.5 and mcat is a 28(11,11,6). Paula said she doesn't know why I was waitlisted. She said my stats are great and that I was right within their average but they had so many other great applicants this month.Maybe it's my verbal?
She said I could retake the mcat again and score a 30 😱 .She said my interview was "ok" which was interesting because she used "great" to describe everything else in my application.

I know people that have sent letters stating the school as their top choice and if accepted they will def attend. You have GREAT stats maybe the adm com didnt think you will go there if accepted (specially if they asked about allopathic schools, which i know i was asked about)...i am just rambling this early in the morning...good luck

Thanks coffee. I'm still waiting to hear from Touro-NY which should be this week. I 'm getting nervous cos I don't have any acceptance. I still have upcoming interviews at AZCOM,NYCOM and PCOM-GA next month. After my first acceptance i'm sure I'll be much more calm and start thinking straight.

Also, did you express any interest in research during your interview? I told the interviewers that I was a published author and that I would very much like to pursue more research in med school and if the school encourages that. Their answers weren't very much forthcoming(something about JAMA).I guess they think i'd be better off somewhere else.
