congrats robflanker. Mine is on the 23rd of sept so if the whole every 3rd Friday is true, I won't be finding out till mid October.
 
Hey guys,

I don't post here a lot (mostly look at everything lol). But I interviewed yesterday around 11am. I didn't get any notification from the admissions office yet. Is anyone else in the same boat? And if there is no phone call coming out today, does that mean waitlist/rejection? Is there still hope for monday? I'm trying to stay positive and think maybe the Jewish holidays might be a priority for some, and maybe some people on the adcom left early. I don't know.

Anyone else in this nerve-wracking situation? Lol.
 
robflanker, ive been jealous ever since u got ur interview invite and now im even more jealous that u got accepted. congrats man!! is UMDNJ-SOM ur top choice??

so if the admission committee meets today, when do they call to give interviews? ive been at work all day today and was hoping my phone was gonna ring before 5PM. but no luck

lets hope so! people getting accepted already scares me and now we gonna have to go through the countdown to 5PM again on monday.

Thanks for the congrats everyone.

UMDNJ-SOM is my top DO choice, but not sure where it ranks overall. If you look at my mdapps, you can see i have been fortunate to get a few interviews so far so I'll see how things shake out. I won't be attending my other DO interviews tho.

In terms of phone calls, they can come on Mon/Tues it just depends how many calls they have to make. I got my interview offer on a Tues AM I think. Not all hope is lost to those still waiting for calls or decisions!
 
Hey robflanker...I also got into UMDNJ-SOM!! today gotta a call at 3.04 pm...I quite happy about that...it is also my top DO school...but I haven't heard anything from the MD schools...I was hoping to hear from njms and George washington. u said that u also got a couple of MD interviews..that is amazing!! U mind sharing ur stats? I just want to figure whether my stats or essay is the reason MD schools are not contacting me...

i think u should definitely accept attending one of those other schools 😉. congrats again! and congrats to everyone whose been accepted.

that song has been in my head since all the talk about countdowns, i've played it like 50 times on my phone this weekend. And I too hope for exciting news tomorrow.

engmed - im not wild on sharing my stats but i don't have home-run stats but I think I have pretty good and diverse ECs. Maybe thats your problem or just need to wait a bit

I have a feeling that today's the day! Of course, my "feelings" are usually wrong, but that's neither here nor there. Today's the day!! Start the countdown 👍

dam man, was hopin u got it too. their commitee meets only once a month? u mite still hear this week. one of the people i work with said they got their invite on a thursday

when you hear back regarding your status after an interview depends on how close it is to the 3rd Thursday of the month.

If you interview 2 days before, you will hear in 2 days.... if you interview on the following monday... you will wait a month essentially...
 
So did anyone hear anything from UMDNJ today? I submitted my secondary probably 2 weeks ago and never heard anything, so I gave them a call today and they said my app was complete. They haven't cashed my check yet though. Any ideas to how long they usually take? cGPA:3.37 sGPA:3.69 MCAT:30 TX here..
 
So, since the third Friday of the month was last week, and its past Thursday of the following week, I guess we all have to wait another month?

Has anyone gotten an email for a rejection? Or they do not send out notices if you are rejected?
 
Dre - I would say you are right on the wait

I'm not sure if it takes a full admissions committee to review for whether to interview or not tho - it does for the final decision

Therefore, you might hear earlier - they didnt describe the process on how they selecter interviewees while I was there

I heard from UMDNJ about setting up an interview yesterday. My LORs arrived last week while everything else had been in well before that. Cashing the check took just over two weeks from the day I sent it (in state). Good luck!
 
It took me about a month and a half to complete this secondary after receiving it because I was waiting for my MCAT scores. Does anyone know if they give their applicants a certain amount of time to complete their secondaries? For instance, some schools say...you must send this back within three weeks.

Just got a call from UMDNJ for an interview.
Scheduled for Oct 21st in the morning (earliest available).
Sec app submitted ~2 weeks ago.
GPA:3.73
MCAT:28 (BS 10, PS 10, VB 8)

I interviewed last Thursday. I feel your pain with the wait. Especially because they don't give any hint of how you did, which is only natural....still feels like forever though
 
Hi guys I was wondering, would not having a LOR from a DO put me at a huge disadvantage, my state is very restrictive when it comes to shadowing.

If you aren't from NJ then you are at a disadvantage to begin with

I'm a NJ resident who attended UConn and just graduated in May with a cGPA of 3.48 (factoring in all classes taken at other schools, which is only really three classes) and a sGPA of 3.36. Just got my MCAT scores in today and the breakdown was P-9 V- 5 (ouch!!) B- 9 Essay: P

I'm curious what are my chances. The composite score isn't really all that impressive at 23, but in reality I did above average (for DO schools that is) in the sciences and did awful in verbal. I'm thinking of retaking in January and sending my secondaries out this week. In addition to sending to PCOM and NYCOM. Any thoughts on my chances at all three?

Well here are my thoughts: Your gpa is fine, within the normal DO gpa range. MCAT is a bit low. One place lists the average UMDNJ MCAT as 28, so a 23 is a little low. I'd imagine the other schools are similar. Overall, hard to say if you would be invited to interview, as they would look at EC's and other such criteria. I'd tend to think youd be more of a long-shot. If you had to get into a school this year I'd say apply broadly, but as you mentioned three specific schools, I'd say throw the applications in. If youre willing to reapply if unlucky this year, you can always retake the MCAT early next year after some good prep.
