i got the wonderful email yesterday!!! I was also part of the interview group last friday.

my dream to go to michigan!!!!

so anyone else that's out there definitely set on michigan??? we should plan to get football tickets and all that jazz!!!

Hey RP - I just checked and I'm there w/ ya! Well, it's better than nothing! Maybe we should get some sort of "We're on the Waitlist" social (ie - drinking) group going! 🙂 😛

Yeah... at UMich... being ont he waitlist is not so bad at all. Remember what they said? They don't overaccept. So they end up pulling like half their class from the waitlist. So it's all good. 🙂
 
Hey woots did you get any news yet from Loyola?...I remember you are in a similar position as me (early interview and they said admissions committee was meeting prior to the 15th and mailing out letters on the 15th). No letter here yet, although who knows what is going on.

Yeah, I'm not gettin' any love from them either. I was thinking that the mail should have been here by now if they mailed it on Tuesday, but we just got our mail and nothing. 🙁 😡

Hey, congrats on U Mich! 🙂 Have to admit I'm jealous, but cool for you nonetheless. Is that your first choice, or are you waiting to hear from some other schools? W/ stats like yours, you shouldn't have a problem...
Anyway, let me know if ya hear anything from Loyola!

Okay, now I'm scared. Officially scared. I know my interview went horrible at UofM. Fine. But I'm also a good in-state applicant... so that's a bonus. BUT THEY HAVE NOT EVEN WAITLISTED ME YET! I interviewed on Sept 13th and people that have interviewed on that day and after have been hearing all sorts of news.

So, my question... has *ANYONE* gotton a rejection from UoMich yet?????? Because I'm starting to suspect if they haven't waitlisted/accepted you by now and you interviewed back in the stone age - that probably means they're writting your rejection letter. Put another way, I don't they're gonna reject via the status page... rather, they only use it for acceptances/waitlists.

I don't know what to tell you, except that really sucks - and we're all pulling for you!!! 🙂

My online page wasn't updated forever, and finally was only after I called them to check on my status. (They didn't even show that they had received my LORs!) If it's at all possible, try and calm down and be patient. Don't automatically assume the worst, because the delay might simply be a matter of tons of applications needing to be updated, and they didn't get to yours before the weekend. (I saw my new status Fri. night.) If you're still really stressing, maybe call their admin office tomorrow and see if you can find out anything. Hang in there!😉
 
nope, I interviewed on the 20th and I just checked the website yesterday and it says that I've been waitlisted. On friday there was nothing on there. They just posted it.
It's too bad. Granted I'm out of state but I had a terrific interview and pretty decent grades and scores. I guess its their loss.
I did have one question though:

It says in there that they'll notify in April what your rank on the waitlist is. Do they actually accept people off the waitlist before that time??

I was under the impression that all applications not rejected will be reviewed every time the committee meets. How they pull this off I have no idea, since the logistics of looking over all those apps are mind numbing... 😱 But I'm pretty sure that people on the waitlist can be accepted at any time. At least I hope so... 😉

To answer your question about people being accepted off the waitlist before april, if you scroll back in this thread a couple people talk about that actually happening. But it doesn't seem to make much sense to me... so I consider it still a rumor.

maybe i'll get an update on the page monday 🙁
 
well you know they kept emphasizing to us how 'active' the waitlist is. that they keep moving people from it. The students there told us that in their class, almost a full third were off the waitlist!

on top of that, i don't know if they did this in your interview or not, but they had at least 20 plus med students show up for lunch and they had all the students there who got in off the waitlist raise their hands just to show how often people off the waitlist were accepted.

also they said flat out- of the 600 that interview, throughout the year, probably half will be offered acceptances-- either right upfront or off the waitlist.- so if you even got to the interview, your chances are great!

Don't they meet every two weeks? In which case you wouldn't have heard anything yet... 😉
 
I'm seriously considering a support group - "I-really-want-to-go-to-UMich-and-don't-know-if-I-can-take-months-of-uncertainty Anonymous". We can even coordinate times with AA, since if this limbo lasts until spring (which I'm afraid it might), I will probably be needing their help too... 😉

Seriously guys, when (not if - when!) we all end up in Ann Arbor, drinks are on me! 😀

Deal! 😀 Probably won't be too tough to get a drink out of me, since I'll be floating w/ happiness if I get in. Plus, what's a round of drinks when I'll be shelling out $30K a year for tuition? 😉
 
So I get my rejection letter from UMICH today via snail mail.

I'm depressed...

Then I check my email and get a letter from the dean saying it was a mistake and I am on the waitlist!

weird.

still kinda blowy, but better than a rejection!

still the PAIN i felt!

sorry to hear about the rollercoaster ride. ialso think that if the dean emailed you to tell you about the mistake, it's a pretty good sign. -- at the very least, i bet they remember your name and if you keep showing interest in the school, they will want to rectify their mistake by eventually giving you an acceptance.
is umich your first choice? if so, write that letter of intent! with that, you'll probably get off the waitlist pretty quick.

Hey kreno - God, that really sucks! And I thought I had a scary day...

My mom called me, saying that there was a letter from UMich delivered to our house. I asked her the all important question - "How thick is it?" Her answer - "It's pretty thin." AAAAHHHHH!!! So I tell her to open it up (which I'm pretty sure she would have done no matter what I said), and it turns out to be a confirmation of my spot on the waitlist. PHEW! I can only imagine what my EKG would have looked like. So for now disaster averted, back to unending waiting... Wonder if there's any cold beer in the fridge... 😛
