School 1: UMich (OOS)
Pros:
  • great clinical education
  • good reputation
  • people seem to like Ann Arbor?
Cons:
  • competitive class culture
  • ranked class
  • very few breaks
School 2: Maryland (OOS)
Pros:
  • strong focus on diversity
  • get to see more of the underserved population
  • seems to have a strong clinical education
Cons:
  • Expensive asf
  • baltimore 🙁
School 2: UMN (OOS)
Pros:
  • Minneapolis was really nice upon visit
  • student culture seems fairly good
  • strong clinical education
Cons:
  • literally so expensive
  • cold 🙁
Summary: Honestly, I wanted to go to Iowa but got waitlisted. I really am just looking for a school with a good culture that supports students and doesn't force me to compete with everyone I've ever met. I am also mostly interested in the clinical aspect of the school, rather than research or specialization rates. Thanks for anyone's help!

what is the total cost of attendance at each school?

I was trying to look for that on ADEA and here's what I found:

UMich: $471,517
UMN: $555,984
Maryland: Couldn't find an exact number, when I added up their tuition + fees + estimated $30,000/yr living expenses I got $543,613

if you don't want to specialize, you don't have to compete
C's get degrees...

Maryland you can get IS tuition after the first year so its actually your cheapest option. It's like $355k a year. Id go to Maryland all day, everyday with these options tbh and thats mostly bc the cost and other pros you listed. Baltimore isn't the best city but as someone living in a city that also has a bad rep (Philly) it is never as bad as people make it seem. Every city has danger, homelessness, drug addiction, etc and you learn where is safe and in those regions it is always nice. UMN has a great work/life balance that I have heard but idk if thats worth the cost.

student culture here is great, but yeah it's really expensive for OOS students unfortunately. Also, the cold isn't that bad lmao, at least this year and last year the whether has been decently warm. It was 50 degrees in january last year(!).

UMD you should be able to get IS tuition which will significantly reduce costs over 4 years. I'd consider them!
