the only thing i can think os is rguhs doesnt provide "proper" transcripts....companaro called me and told me your transcripts are just mark sheets. I told her thats what we get from rguhs. I paid 1500 RS for that. She told me shes just going to put that transcripts not provided by uni. Other then that i dont know
 
Thats kind of weird. Even I don't have that Univ. Transcript, just the marksheets and their website clearly states that, in some countries marksheets are issued and they are ok with that. And still got the app. complete mail from UMN, regardless of the final outcome of rejection.

Anyways, All the Best to other applicants.
 
Even I had applied, same problem, no transcript l, I was told some students have this problem. She said the application would still be submitted with a note of this. I hope they aren't rejecting ppl because if this .
 
hey all. i was filling out the app and got a bit confused. please help. they ask for work exp. and House job is not work exp. so i was wondering is a US observership counted as work exp?. or not? and on the next page where employment is continued they asked for volunteer/observe hours and "beginning from". i put on a date but it doesn't fit. should i write year only? and they said FAQ 60. i can only see it till 58 on the website.
 
about transcripts and mark sheets i did my BDS from Pakistan. and i got mark sheet from the university and transcripts from college. like my college is Fatima Jinnah Dental College and its under Karachi University. there are more than 5 dental schools under Karachi University. so each school issues separate transcripts on college letter heads with the number of hours of lectures attended.

I have no idea and would like to hear some more opinions! I only have transcripts! Would that be enough??

Obervership is not work experience. Work experience is where you have a job which you are aid for. Internship does not count since you cannot receive your degree without it.

When I had applied, I submitted a copy of my transcript which was from my college (all four years of marks on one sheet) and I submitted notarized photocopies of my DMC's plus internship completion letter.

They would not say your application is complete unless it is. They call a very small number of applicants for interview, about 60 over the course of the year (rolling admission).

My understanding is that they are sending out 3 types of emails, straight rejection, an email that says you have not been selected for interview at this time, but your file is active still, and lastly an offer for interview.

This year I still don't know anyone who has new invited for interview. Hopefully someone has good news soon.

Got a mail yesterday that says "....... at this time, you have not been chosen for an interview to the UMN PASS program. However, we are keeping your file active and will notify you via email and/or phone call in the event that you will be invited for an interview."

Wow, your stats are much better than mine. I'm not so confident anymore.... I hope they grant you an interveiw later in the process ionomer!

Sorry, I meant mails. So used to writing emails! This year, UMN seems to have really increased their requirements for admission, my understanding is that they are looking for a more comprehensive way to judge an applicants abilities ( added a critical thinking portion to the interview day etc). Have not heard of an interview offer yet, so hopefully when someone gets it, we can see what they are looking for. In my batch, we have some pretty hefty resumes ( specialists from home country, 2 people with PhDs from US, masters ,7 years work experience etc). I assume they are looking for something similar.
Since it is a very small program, lots of funding and with specialized classes for PASS students, I think it is just getting harder to get one of those seats. I do hope someone is successful in gaining an interview call and shares their stats here.
 
Sam99 are you at UMN and what are your stats? You had indicated in your previous posts that you had meeting with the program head, I have never heard of schools having meeting with students to discuss about future students. So please specify what meetings you are talking about?

Oh it wasn't about admission future students at all, it was about how they are revamping the program to improve it, which obviously will affect the future students. They are introducing some pretty great requirements and competentcies for graduation, they already have an elective course in periodontics in third year etc. oppertunity to assist and perform simple perio surgery procedures (crown lengthnig etc.) the new Dean is pretty bent upon really increasing UMN's stats, which is good for the students, you get into the clinic with real patients much quicker than pretty much any other school. For next year, patients and competencies will start in May right along with the regular D3's, instead of August like this year. This is still very quick compared to most schools (ex. Classes start at BU end of July, so patient work will obviously start muc later, I don't know when actual patients actually even start at BU) since we start classes in march, and next year all the pre clinicals will be from jan, so patient work is right away in may 2014.

No school discusses admission of any students with current students, that is just not done.

You can look at my profile and see my old posts, my stats should be in their somewhere. I still think, stats, while good, the real basis of admission is how well you can portray yourself in your SOP and unique experiences which stand out, will differentiate you.

About the 126 credit hours for UMN PASS. I spoke to Janet and she said it does not matter whether you did one year internship or a Master here in the US or any other degree after your dental school in your home country. They specifically need 126 hours on ECE evaluation of your dental school degree. If you do not meet this criteria your application would not be considered further.

They r very strict about the 126 credit hours. I called up n Janet confirmed that file was returned back to her coz the credit hour requirements were not met🙁

my credit hour is 133 hrs..even after all that..i dont know wat to do
 
can anyone tell me ..what do they ask for in the bench test...?
 
I asked the question because it is written in their website that they are not having the traditional bench test but then something called"advanced simulation skill assessment" is done..sounded confusing..
 
@sam 99. i got my degree before my internship and internship in Pakistan is not required. we get degrees right after our final year. its optional . if we want to stay in Pakistan and get a license then only you must do internship. people who go abroad dont do internships. regardless everyone gets a degree after their final yr results are out.

I do know they are very strict about the 126 credits. So, before you apply make sure of that when you get your ECE. You might need to call them and check. I knew someone who talked to them and they had said that certain CE courses may contribute towards the credits.

I am sure this is an advertisement for Dr Hakim and associate because this same post word for word, you posted on many other threads. I think this is a little to much of a step ahead of our current concerns. We will benefit/appreciate more if next time you move your advert to a new thread (start a thread for this)

I got application received mail on april 18th. I got a phone call today morning regarding the interview.
