Hi everyone,

Could you guys tell me which program is better?
I got accepted by BU the other day, but today I got an interview call from UMN. I don't know anything about the PASS UMN. I read a post by monreal that UMN is a good school with more clinical training. I am not sure if I will go for the interview. any comments? elto?
BTW, how much is the tuition fee for UMN? I can not find the info on their website.
Thanks a lot!

I would go to UMN for sure. The program has been around for a short period of time, but has proven to be one of the best. Their director has over 20yrs of experience working with International students, which is EXTREMELY important. He used to direct the PASS program at UPenn, which also is a good program.
Do a quick SDN search for UMN, and you'll find very detailed descriptions of the Minnesota program by g3k.
Don't get me wrong, BU is a great school too, but that's not what you asked for.
Also at this point you don't even have an acceptance from UMN, so I'm not sure why you're being picky. If you're not gung-ho about going to the UMN interview (money, time, uncertainty), then just go to BU. It's all good.

UMN PASS estimated 2007 tuition.

Good Luck.

Thank you very much, Nile. The information is very helpful. If UMN is much better, I won't want to miss this chance for interview, even there is uncertainty.
What worries me is the clinical part of BU, one posting(g3k??) said only 10 patients in BU but 50-60 patients in UMN when graduation...

But according to what I heard, an international program student can see about 10 pts even within 2 weeks. So who is ture?

i do agree with nilebds...the pass program is proven to be good, thanks to dr.peter berthold!i was interviewed there..as well as in bu......the facilities and the infrastructure r better in umn..no doubt!!

there are hardly 3 or 4 seats left in pass program and they are calling 6 people in every week. it means they take 1 people in every two batches. You should be happy being accepted at BU. i am giving you a piece of advice!!

Hi makdr, I have exactly the same feeling. UMN is a good school. But I really hate such interview style.... For most of us, it is just a waste of money and time. I don't understand why UMN does this. The most funny part is they save one seat at the last and for that one last seat, they call up to 6 batches people.... most schools have 1:3 ratio, (acceptance vs interview), nobody knows the ratio for UMN.🙁

I definately agree with makdr.i attended the interview and came to know that they have already selected atleast 8 students an they ar goin to i/v until mid of feb.The funny part was i came to know through one of friend that during his i/v there were students who received i/v invite after being rejected!!!!!!:laugh::laugh::laugh:
i donot understand their i/v style and their selection criteria.

UMN have 10-12 seats( in that matter Upenn and others as well). why cant they call all people at once and choose whom they like. thats it, done in 1 or 2 days. i like CA schools because their admissions is relatively transparent.

I asked Tx school, they said they cannot reveal why my application is rejected. come on guys, height of patience, we paid fee, we sent all supported docs, still they couldnt provide helping hand.

in another forum, they said college is good. why do we care about college. we should only care for opportunities for your spouse. so the location is important than college and Dr berthold(or who ever it is).

we all are international people with highly education, intellectual knowledge, so decide where you want to study.

I also had the interview schedualed for UMn in Nov, but I declined the offer after being accepted at BU. UMn might have better program than BU, but I think Boston is one of the best place to live in and its a good school as well. You can try your luck at UMn, but don't jeopardize the offer from BU, thats what I would do.
