Just got my mcat score 30R, yay right? Not quite unfortunately. It was 14 in verbal and 8 in both BS and PS. How competitive is that for DO? I think it's decent but am not sure. My top choice is Chicago, which is one of the highest number-wise. I'm a non-trad so I'm out of the loop, even more so for osteopathic. 3.8 GPA, good extracurriculars, DO recs. Thanks for the input!

3.8 and 30R you are fine for basically any DO school, CCOM included. Are you already verified and submitted? If not do it this second, like literally do it now lol

Good job on the verbal. Honestly, its unbalanced but its not like you got a 13,13,4 or something. All of your scores are above the minimum, you are obviously intelligent with a very high GPA and your MCAT score is very good as well. I'm sure you will be fine.

Thanks for the reassurance. I'm worried about the 8's. (well PS honestly I'm relieved) Still waiting for 1 transcript to be received. Will be hunting down the registrar and fedexing it tomorrow.

Verbal seems to be weighted really heavily these days (I got in with a 10 on the verbal, 8 on the biological, and 7 on the physical.) You'll definitely get interviews and acceptances with a 14 on the verbal.

Yeah, you have nothing to worry about if you apply and get verified now.

I know this is about DO schools, and if that's all you're interested in, ignore me.

I feel like MD schools would raise their eyebrows at that 14 in verbal, if you want to expand your application with more options in the Chicago area and all over. Since you are non-traditional, if they really explore your app, they may come to the conclusion that you are an applicant with tons of potential. Since you're maybe out of the loop on your sciences, that would be the easy explanation for the 8s, whether an MD or DO school is looking at your app.

Just something for you to consider!
