I just think UNC is an awsome school. I love UNC because it is cheap and a very good school at the same time. I did their MED program in the summer and I just got their secondary-meaning interview!! :clap: I was just wondering what it means as far as getting in because some say if you did MED and are granted an interview...its almost a guarantee of getting in??? Given of course that you dont screw up the interview real BAD 😀 Any truth to that?...
anyway..I'm just thrilled that I got interview there!!!!!

Hey GuamGuy...
I did MED this summer as well and I think I know who you are..your name start with C? I am just going to STOP there. So how was the inetrview? ANy wired questions? Hope to see you in AUGUST 😎

Are you both North Carolina residents?

HEY, ScoobySnack
I am NC resident but the MED program also take some from out of state so if you are planning to do it, don't be discouraged by it. Yes, they take a lot of NC residents but not all,
good luck

Does UNC screen before they send out secondaries? If so should I call and find out whats up? I just became verified middle of November and I checked on AMCAS and the app still hasn't transmitted. Are they just one of those schools where the transmission date never updates?

Zoop, Thanks for info and good luck with your application (I looked up MED on their website and I am not a minority so I don't think it applies afterall).

As for secondaries, they are screened and if you receive one it is also an invitation to interview. If you have a particular issue with your application you should call the admissions office as soon as possible.

i hear that most kids that do MED get into med school
something like 85% +

I did a search on UNC's website. Here's a link MED Program. It's a pretty informative website.

MED = Medical Education Development
It is mainly for minorities and Disadvantaged Students. For nine weeks, you take frist year medical school courses like Biochem, Anatomy, Histology, Physiology and Microbiology. At the end, they write evaluation for each student and you can use that as one of your LOR's. If you do well on the program you have a good chance of getting in to any med school including UNC itself. The website is also a good source of info on how to apply and so on...

hey guys does the MED program guarantee admission and does it require mcats, i thought it is really a very interesting program

This thread is old. Very old. You're nearly four years too late.

Also, I don't have an answer for you so sorry for wasting your time.
