Has anyone heard from UNC yet?

I was an NC resident last year, and they were the last school I heard from on secondaries. It was sometime in September, actually. UNC is very, very slow ... They are slow to offer secondaries (all of which get interviews, though), slow to make decisions (unless you are an outstanding candidate), and slow to process financial aid (as in June). I'm an out-of-state applicant (so I'm not holding my breath for a secondary), but a few weeks ago I got a letter from UNC saying they had received my AMCAS app and would notify me later after reviewing it. Haven't heard anything further yet.

UNC is very, very, very, very slow. I'm a resident and I got my app in really early last year, but I didn't receive a secondary until January. Ick. They screen for secondaries heavily-- you only get a secondary if you're getting an interview-- but I don't think they started sending them out until October last year.

STAY ON THEM!! They lost my primary application TWICE last year, and I lived in Chapel Hill and was stopping by the admissions office every 2-3 weeks. Good luck!

I'm just hoping I get a secondary... my friend (also a NC resident) got IN to UNC in October last year! How nice would that be?!

were they early decision? i really don't remember anyone except the EDP folks getting a secondary before october.

it is quite possible that my memory is skewed, however. 😉 in any case i hope they're faster with you than they were with me! i didn't get in, but ecu was my first choice anyway and i really couldn't be happier with my med school. 😍

I wasn't early decision, but I got a secondary in Sept. The nice thing, though, is that there's no waiting to see if you got an interview. UNC wound up being in the middle of my interviews b/c you get to skip the post-secondary waiting game.

They will tell you at the interview that they let in a very small number of candidates in the fall and early winter. The majority of interviewees do not get a decision until Feb. or March.

The people I know there are pretty happy, but be prepared to wait! Good luck. 🙂

She wasn't early decision. She received her secondary in September, and then interviewed not long after. Her interviewer actually called her to tell her she was accepted, and asked to be her advisor if she came to UNC! (She did, and he is.)
