The school I go to right now has this grading scale:

A 4.0 94-100
B+ 3.5 88-93
B 3.0 82-87
C+ 2.5 76-81
C 2.0 70-75
D+ 1.5 65-69
D 1.0 60-64
F 0 0-59
They don't have A+'s or A-'s which is lame because I always get 93%'s which is a B+, or a 3.5 GPA. Under a normal grading system, this would be an A-, not a B+. 😡

Does the AMCAS calculate their own version of my GPA based on percentages? Is there a table available that shows how they grade?

hmm, that bites. B+ = 3.3 when your gpa gets converted...

Wow that really really suck balls so instead of getting close to 4.0 you will have close to 3.4 wow....

Well a 93% is a 3.5 at my school, but it should be a 3.7 at any school using a grading system that isn't ******ed. I was hoping that schools reported percentages on transcripts and the AMCAS went from there, but it looks like the AMCAS uses GPA...which is dumb as hell because my 93% should be a 3.7 and not a 3.5.

so work harder and get As?

Gee, why didn't I think of that? 🙄

I should get credit where credit is due. At nearly every other school, a 93% is an A-/3.7. Not a B+/3.5.

I'm transferring with 30 credits to another university with a normal grading system (A/A-/B+/B/B-/C+/C/C-/D+/D/D-/F), but it still pisses me off. A .2 GPA difference on 30 non-BCPM credits is a big deal to me.

Ive had classes were a 92=3.0....the rest of them an 89.9=3.0

I dont see your complaint here. Yeah youll get screwed if you fall at the 93...but you will also thank your lucky stars when you get an 88.

If you don't like it, either work harder and get a good grade, or transfer to a different school. I don't see what you're trying to accomplish with this thread.

I'm just raging against the machine because this is really starting to make me mad. Hey, let's arbitrarily decide on an obscure grading system that screws over A- students. 😡😡😡 Oh well, I'm out of this piece of crap school in another 2 months.

edit:

My school also explicitly prohibits curves.

when and if you get in an interview and get asked about your former school, I probably wouldnt call it a piece of crap. Just a heads up.

I'm pretty sure AMCAS doesn't really care what percent you get in a class, all they care is what is the FINAL grade given by a professor. If they chose a letter grade (according to the school), then that is what AMCAS will use.

Where I am from, the scale of percents to letter grade is determined by individual professors.

I think your wrong. It should still follow a half step system because the opening-poster stated: A, B+, B so on and so forth. Therefore B+ = AB. Therefore his B+ should still be a 3.5

What is the name of this ******ed school?

I'm taking gen ed credits at one of the satellite campuses because I live like 10 minutes away from it. I'm paying $10,000/year to attend a community college. Oh well.

Community college? If you plan on staying there your entire undergrad career, watch out. Medical schools do not typically like (or even accept?) prerequisites taken at a community college.

I'm going to one of the satellite campuses which is a community college. This is my last semester there, so I'm only transferring 30 credits of liberal arts general education classes. All the rest of my classes will be at a public university.🙂

ftw👍

The university I will attend uses four letters for grading. They are A, B, C, and F.

90-100% A
80-89% B
70-79% C
