I'm trying to figure out my 4-year schedule. I take 4 classes per semester and I will be majoring in English. I am also considering taking one or two courses over the summer.

What did you do? Do you have any suggestions? What is a good sample schedule? I'm worried my gpa will suffer if I have too many heavy science or lab sciences at once.

The courses I am trying to place are Bio, Chem, Physics, Psych, Orgo, Calc, and any higher levels. This is one idea (the Xs are other non-premed classes):

Year 1:
Chem + lab
Calc
X
X

Summer:
bio + lab

Year 2: (kill me)
Physics
Calc
Orgo
X

Year 3:
study for MCATs
Psych
higher level
X
X

With Bio, O-Chem, and Physics, find the subject that you're weakest in and try to take it closer to your MCAT date. That way, it'll still be fresh in your head and you can perform better in that section.

Don't you have to take Biochem and Sociology for the 2015 MCAT?

Oh, you're right. I don't think you have to take an actual biochem class, but I might need to take one semester of sociology.

I don't see myself taking anything more than the Calculus that's required. I would only need up to Calc II, right?

Usually only Calc I with stats sometimes required depending on the med school. You'll only need Calc II if you're doing physics with calc.

Either way, getting done with chem + calc your first year, bio over the summer and then physics + O chem second year won't be too bad in addition to your English classes. It's about the same schedule I took, with Classics courses instead of english classes and I didn't find the workload to be overly burdensome.

Thanks. I don't want it to sound like I don't want to work hard--because I'm okay with working very hard--just if I took two sciences with labs, it didn't leave me much time during the day to study.

Physics with calculus is the standard pre-med Physics course, right?

My school also offers a Life Sciences Calculus course, so I may look into that. I'm not sure if that's considered harder or easier, though.
