I am very confused about the topic of undergraduate research. I want to apply to Med School, and know that research is a somewhat important part of the application (if you like it), and I have several different opportunities to pursue here at my University, but here's my question- Does my research have to be specifically in the science related fields, chem and bio, or can it be in say something I'm more fond of, like nutrition, exercise science, fitness, and brain- related research? And what about research in other fields such as sports analytics, history, and sports management, do Med School admissions even consider looking at research on these non-science topics?

Research need not be in the hard sciences to "count" but it does need to be a scholarly investigation that will add to generalizable human knowledge. It should be hypothesis based, with a study design, data collection and analysis, and conclusion. Ideally, it would be potentially publishable, even though having an actual publication is rare among applicants. You can include potential research in linguistics, economics, and psychology on your list, as well.
