Because I'm not a US citizen, I don't know much about the NIMH funding rules. I'm working with an American undergrad on his honors thesis; can he apply for NIMH funding, even though he's not a grad student or faculty?

I suspect this goes beyond what you're looking for. But thought I'd share anyway. It's more than just a "research grant" and applies specifically to those from "disadvantaged" backgrounds.

Best of luck!!!

I don't think he counts as a disadvantaged group, but thanks 🙂 I think his honors thesis definitely fit in the NIMH mandate and scope of funding, but I don't know if he can apply or what the awards he can go for are.
