MaTh and Chemistry (Biochem emphasis) for me!

Chalk up another one for Biochem 😀 (formerly nursing... changed my mind)

And QHamp - I don't know about working as an RN and going to med school at the same time... I am pretty sure that most schools strongly caution against working while attending med school. But the clinical experience would really help you (I think it gives you something to apply all of that science knowledge to, helps things make sense and helps you commit new knowledge to the ol' memory bank!)

Ah, I was a double major in Math/Physics once brandonite. Then I woke up. I have so much respect for you guys though. Honestly, I could never major in either of those and do even reasonably well.

As far as my oh so cool major is concerned, hey, you gotta have a backup plan. If nothing else, at least it'll pay the bills. Now I just have to find another job to take care of the rent and car payments. 😀 😀

I actually had a tour of majors during college, but I ended up majoring in International Studies, (thought I wanted to work for the State Dept.). I do have to ask what one would learn in Filmic studies besides the obvious? I would also add that I have heard that the "BEST" major for success in med school and the MCAT is English. Majoring in any of the sciences just to improve your chances on the MCAT seems to be a bit of overkill t9 me.

Filmic Writing was screenwriting--though my senior year I worked on TV writing more than film. For Pepe: yeah, it was the obvious stuff, usually taught by a "professional" with questionable credits. I mean, who HASN'T directed an episode of "Who's The Boss?"

YEAH BIOLOGY!! I'm surprized there aren't more of us out there! And I chose bio becuase I LOVE it, not for any imaginary help on the MCAT, although I think my classes made it easier to study for. I can't imagine majoring in anything else!! I also have a chem minor (YUCKY!!), only becuase it just required two semesters of biochem--which I have to take anyway next year.

Wow, it is rather interesting to see the diversity of majors in this group! Oh, and I feel sorry for that one Zoology major, for some reason everyone keeps forgetting about him/her, so I'm adding it back in there.

Judging from 2002-2003 MSAR data, a Physics/Philosophy double-major has the highest acceptance rate to medical school (>65%), statistically. Of the humanities, History majors lead the pack at around 63%. The lowest of all traditional majors is psychology at around 40%. Biology seems to have average acceptance rates (~45 %).
 
Adding my double major: Classical Civilization (first one! whoohoo!) and plain ol' biology. I was supposed to Biochemistry/Molecular Biology but I had to graduate a semester early and couldn't finish.....
