Hey All,

I am a senior next year and do not have a minor (majoring in biopsychology). I plan on doing a year of postbacc work and then applying to medical school. Will it look back if I do not have a minor?

Thanks,

J

Nah, don't worry, it will not look back. 👍

Minors are useless. Medical schools don't care.

They don't care about your major either, as long as you have one.

Haha...so true! 🙄

At my interview at OSU, my interviewer said the most interesting thing about my application was my Spanish minor..

They were just making conversation.

Agreed. Unless you have some crazy minor (e.g. a minor in Time Travel), med schools don't care. Having good ECs are more important.

some schools dont even offer minors

On the same note, if i get accepted to a med school (applying this upcoming cycle) and have a minor declared, can I drop the minor after getting an acceptance, assuming its early enough to do so, without any issues?

I pitty the fool who spends time thinking about minors. Minors are worthless. Personally, I stop listening after, "I minored in..." or "with a minor in.."

I'm like 92% sure that you are required to finish it if you put it on your application. You might be able to get away with it, but I would check with the school and come up with an interesting excuse so as not to sound like a slacker.
