is this your score report? did you end up passing? Are you trying to figure out what you need to improve? Peads and CCS are easy ways to improve your score. Rumor has it that if you have ccs on the right, it can help you pass or increase your score.

Yea, it's my step 3 report.

Didn't pass: 185

I means peds def sucked. And same for CCS. Just trying to figure out how bad CCS was along with neuro etc.

Everything is bad but exactly by how much..

Already submitted my ERAS on the 15th and scores came back on the 14th. Trying to take it by November 1. So like 6 weeks.

Misery and this incompetence is beyond reasonable. Last 4 months of tunnel vision to avoid sh*tshow just like this went down the drain. Wonder if I'm mentally challenged, impaired or just flat out ******ed?

I am sorry to hear that, but don't call yourself any of those things or feel bad about it, it's a horrible exam. DId you do uwsa or nbme before you went for this? How did you feel during and post the exam? for ccs I guess everyone said stick to uworld, but if you need more help in that area, read crush for that and watch archer videos. I haven't seen them, but heard they help throught the process of navigation and ordering stuff. Other than that, your day one can improve, how can you do that? I am sorry, I am sa confused as you are. I guess, improve your biostats and ethics as they are a major chunk of the exam. Also, maybe try another Qbank, did you miss any questions during the test? are you a fast reader? if you need help in that aspect, then consider kaplan qbank, it's long and will help you time. Also, always do uworld in timed mode. Again, I am sorry for this, but it's just an exam and you will be fine. Hang in there and all the best 🙂

This is the information i posted on a different thread titled " long time lurker, first time failer"

Prep:
  • 4 months of dedicated time. About 12 hours a day. Lets make it 7 hours a day of solid studying for 4 months.
  • UW: First pass: 57% correct. Timed, random. Then incorrect questions. 2nd pass: Reset the qbank. Timed, random 85% correct. Then incorrect questions. Then marked about 600 questions on topic i sucked at. Made blocks out of these. Then marked another 250 questions that i was still struggling with. Then marked another 100qs to make sure i was focusing on weak concepts.
  • Notes: Made flashcards out of UW and reviewed them on regular basis. Was trying to avoid passive learning. Looked up material from Step up to medicine and or MTB step 2/step 3.
  • Videos: Used medquest (conrad fischer's) Step 3 HY course. Watched these videos about twice becasue most of the content was still fresh from step 2.
  • Audio: My daily commute was 90 minute one way. So converted step 3 HY videos to audio for listening.
  • Exams: NBME: scored 400 raw score since they don't give you conversion. NBME was done about 9 weeks before test date. UWSA: Took about 7 weeks before my test and scored 208. From the time i took UWSA to my actual exam: Primarily stuck on uw, and uw flash cards.
  • CCS: UW 51 cases about 4 times.
  • Official Usmle CCS: Went through couple of times.
  • Biostat: Did UW step 1, step 2, step 3 + UW biostat course.
  • Wk areas: Early on i sucked at acute coronary syndrome, pna, gallstones, cholecystitis, elec trolytes, and some endo. Worked at these. Opened up MTB, wiki, step up to med to make sure i learned it.

Normally i struggle with timing. Had timing issue on step 1 and step 2. But for step 3, finished every block except the very first one (random guessing on last 2 questions). Usually, my downfall is timing but this wasn't the case this time so it's a little more puzzling.

Oh no, you seem to have done more than what everyone does. You have to reflect on the test and figure out what went wrong. Is there something that you remember you felt horrible about (even though this test is overall a nightmare) I am sorry, I don't have any words of wisdom (nor am I in a position to give you any) You seem to have done everything right. I hope someone who has taken done well on this can shed some light for you.

I sure hope so.

Biggest thing that i can say is day 1 was rough and it was expected. Unless, one can go through entire first aid step 1 and focus on HY stuff then PERHAPS day 1 can be a little easier but no one of predicting that.

Day 2: It was more of what i expected because of it's format and type of questions. Sure, there are few questions that i totally messed up on and just chose the wrong answer but that's given. Overall, i felt biostats was okay. I struggled with abstracts so thats one thing to work on. Along with CCS and reviewing peds. Also, have to review everything else.

I know i have worked hard but no one will see and care. Because of my score. Program directors aren't going to know "oh, he worked hard. He didn't take it easy and underestimated the exam." Assumption will be "well, another idiot caribbean kid who probably didn't care or he's not qualified etc etc. Feel like $4700 for (213 IM, FM programs) down the drain with nothing to show for it. Despite being involved in clinical research and having 2 publications along with MPH and MHA.

Thank you for your help!

Can someone please explain how to interpret this performance profile? Thank you!

God help us if you are going to treat someone

If you dedicated 4 months of DEDICATED studying at 7-14 hours a day and still couldn't pass I think you should probably sit down with someone who knows who they're doing.

Bro, I got my test result on the same day as you. Believe me when I say I studied for about 7 months for this exam only to score 223. I initially started off awful. My first NBME score was 250, then I improved it to 450 and then finally Uworld (224). They key to passing is to study the exam to know the material, and not to study to pass. If you are just studying to pass, you are going to be in big trouble. You need to know you vitals, and labs inside out because that makes a difference in your diagnosis and treatment.
I pray God blesses you and helps you through this obstacle. Believe me, when I say I understand what you feel.
