I have a quick question about umdnj-som. I applied late but I just had an interview with umdnj-som. During the interview, they told me that current class is full. I am regretting that I did not apply early but after visiting the umdnj-som, I really love this school. My question is “what is my chance of getting in?” I am worry that they won't give me an acceptance because there is no room. :scared:

well you might get on the waitlist but where on it who knows? there are others that might be on there. Best bet is if this is the school for you to reapply EARLY next year if you don't get in. Best of luck.

i think that's the best advice. if this is really where you want to be, wait it out. but, while you're waiting, get next years app ready to go.

while we're on the subject, isn't that a dirty trick? get your hopes up with the prospect of an interview only to find out you never had a chance. happened to me, too with another school and left me wondering why i even bothered showing up.

Just keep calling and sending update letters, etc. There may be ppl that drop for MD acceptances in May.

I want to thank everyone for their input. I have a follow up question. The Adm meets on 17th this month, should i send in a letter of intent now? Or should i wait for adm's offical decision? I got into many other schools but UNDMJ is my top choic. I already send in an updated letter.

Can i ask how late you apply, like when did you mail your secondary? I also applied late, and haven't heard from them yet. Thanks.

Why would you wait for their official decision?!? What if it's a rejection? Then you'll wish you sent in your LOI earlier.

Go to their open house on April 27th and hand Paula Watkins a letter of intent in person. Tell her how much you love the school and how its a right fit for you. Bring up a unique reason of why its the right fit. Make it so that she remembers you - hell, you may even want to put a small passport sized picture of yourself inside the letter of recommendation (some MD schools I applied to mandated this with the secondary so they could rmr you for interviews). You sent in a thank you letter after the interview, right?

Good luck.

mail it in right now. My interviewer told me in an email after my interview that if SOM is my number 1 choice I should definitly send them a LOI right away.

I mailed off my 2nd in mid Jan. The appl was processed within two weeks and got my interview in late March. I called the Adm and asked for reschedule an earlier interivew day, however all interivew spots were full. I have no choice but to go ahead with the March interivew. I hope that helps...

Thank you for your imput. The Adm meets on the 17th and will have their decision before Apr 27th. I will register for the opon house but only will be effective if I am end up on the wait list. My interview was last month and since then I have send in one additional recommendation letter and a thank you letter. Although I have stated my intent in my thank you letter but it was not an offical LOI. Should I go ahead and send in an offical LOI at this time?
