Hello everyone!

I just got my mcat score yesterday and I’m very grateful to say I got a 515! I’m a little concerned about the breakdown however as it is a bit uneven and I’m not sure how medical schools take into consideration subscores. My breakdown was 128/128/127/132. I feel like bio is the most important section to do well on and am concerned that I got a 127 and feel like my whole score is just contingent on my good psych score.

Do medical schools care about this and should I be concerned in any way?

I would appreciate any information on this!

You are honestly looking at it the wrong way -- your outlier is the 132, not the 127!!! Your score is fine, and as stated above, nobody has a subsection cutoff higher than 125 or 126.

Your whole score isn't contingent on the 132, but it's true that you'd have a 511 if you didn't kill psych. That said, you DID kill psych, and nobody is going to hold that against you or dock you the 4 points because it's an outlier. The same way schools don't ignore a 122 when the other subsections are 130, they are not going to ignore your 132. But it's ridiculous to be worried about the 127 when 2 of the other 3 sections were 128. You're FINE. You have a 515 with nothing below 127.

On what planet is this a bad thing?????

Chill

I got the same exact score except a 129 on CP. I'm currently an M1 at a good school. You're fine! I was worried too for the same reasons but this never came up in any interviews and it clearly didn't hurt me.

Thanks everyone! Just wasn’t sure about the role that the subscores played in admission decisions. Definitely feel a bit more at ease.
