So I got my AMCAS background check results today, and have a few days to review them before they're released to schools. I got a clean slate!

...which is weird, because I disclosed two minor misdemeanors on my primary app and disclosed a third directly to Certiphi (and emailed schools), which occurred after I submitted secondaries.

I'm really curious why nothing showed up, considering I provided case numbers and everything. Some factors:
1) The two older M.M.s are both more than 3 years old, and both were for very minor things. (one alcohol-related, one moving violation)
2) Most recent one was a speeding ticket for a speed difference that 90% of cops will ignore.

However, now I'm nervous that something went wrong and there'll be this huge discrepancy between by background check and my disclosures. I mean, I can personally go to the website of one of the courthouses I listed and perform a court search, and my name comes up. Why can't Certiphi? What will medical schools think now that I've disclosed things on my primary app that Certiphi says didn't happen? (adcoms?)

Is there something I'm missing? Like every premed with even a minor record, I'm terrified about having an acceptance rescinded 🙁 I'm going to call Certiphi on Monday, but is this something I should worry about, or does a background check ignore minor things?

I would talk to the school you've been accepted at. If you disclosed them on the app and they don't show up on the BG check, that's not going to be a problem, you already disclosed what you thought you needed to. Its the other way around that becomes even somewhat of an issue. Minor traffic violations aren't a big deal, major misdemeanors and felonies are a big deal. But you were completely honest about everything, you will be fine.

You reported traffic violations? Lol. No one cares about that. Not sure why your alcohol incident wasn't included; perhaps you were underage, or the incident was removed from your record due to your plea.

No med school cares about traffic violations as long as you don't pull a Suge Knight

No one cares except when they are a misdemeanor that shows up on a background check and you failed to disclose it (not that case here but probably the concern OP had when they originally disclosed the tickets to the schools).

If I recall correctly, and I'm almost certain that I do, Certiphi only requires the disclosure of non-traffic related incidents. It will not show up on your background check. If in doubt, just order a background check on yourself in advance.

They don't say anything about that on the disclosure page, but perhaps. I'm just surprised that none of my incidents showed up. I'll call Monday to verify everything is OK.

I don't know what Certiphi requires or not, but I know AMCAS requires disclose or most convictions (there are exclusions for some states due to their particular laws). AMCAS does not say "any misdemeanors except traffic offenses" it asks for ANY misdemeanor convictions. Failure to disclose there could bite you in the arse. There are threads on SDN about such.
