Hi,
colorado reviews applications on one time basis(not rolling), so when u apply ,does not matter.....provided it is complete on time....
I believe once you get an interview call, your hand skills will matter most....and last year if i remember correctly, they said they enroll 20 students...
hope this helps and good luck..

thank you for reply. Is there any criteria for GPA in colorado? i do have experience here in USA of observation in private practice. So is it a plus point?

Does Univ of colorado need 90 plus score and high gpa?

Hi..
I wonder if Colorado univ. need Official LOR's(directly from previous schools ) or Notariserd..PLs help..

They need official LORs but not directly from the school. If you have sealed copies, you can mail them yourself. I was interviewed and rejected from there last year.

hey saru88,

congratulations on upenn acceptance...i was with u in colorado...we met at the airport.

Hello dr nilesh,

This is the best time to apply for UOC. I called them in June, 2008 to ask the same question. Further, I requested them to inform me when application for new cycle is available.

They infact called me in July (to my suprise!). And they told me that application is available online and I can apply any time.

Please go ahead and apply. You should apply right now and afterward, you can update you NBDE.

Hi guys...

I received a few personal messages for the Colorado interview so I thought should just reply in this thread. I personally found the practical of Colorado very difficult. There were 2 hours for making a class 2 cavity on mandidular first molar and PFM crown prep on maxillary first molar. Proper positioning of the manikin had to be maintained at all times. Then in the same time we had to do a wax carving exercise. Green stick had to be carved in the shape of an arrow and sticky wax had to be melted and filled in alphabets on a card that they gave. I found the 2 hours to be very inadequate for doing all this. My preps were good but i was just left with just 20 minutes for the wax thing. If you guys can manage the time well since the beginning it'll not be that difficult.

As for the interview, my group of interviewers was very nice. There were 3 of them. Everyone's interview was exactly 45 minutes long. Some people were asked clinical questions but my interview was more like a general conversation. However they did ask stuff like How do you compare dentistry in your home country to Us? What would you say if you had to sell yourself as a dentist to us? Just be spontaneous and it'll be fine.

Do ask me if you have any more questions. Good luck to all of you applying.🙂

interviews will be in 2 batches....50 each......I attended the interview in june 2008 at UOC.... practicals ---No big deal compared to other schools....routine class 2 and gold crown......u can adjust the maniquin to ur convenience.....except for wax exercises which are a bit vague......dont worry abt it.....in the interview u will be asked abt ur exp and other basic stuff.....one current regular dds student will also be present in the interview room and will ask u couple of ethical questions.....which i felt was ridiculous.....overall it was a nice experience......nice campus.....heard they r going to increase the number of seats frm nxt yr....take time and visit some of the mind blowing tourist places around denver and colorado springs.....esp 16th street denver downtown, pikes peak and other ski places which r jst awesome......hope this helps u guys......

Hi, your score and toefl looks competitive but your GPA is a bit low.. did u try getting it done from wes or others accepted by the univ.

Does anyone hav an idea..what are acceptable scores to be called for interview ?

For those who applied to UC,did you print the personal statement and the experience on separate sheeths on on the space they have provided in their application?

The process was not difficult per say. Interviews were personal and relaxed.
We had to prep a class 2 and PFM I think or was it a gold crown?

The wax exercises are discussed in detail in last year's CO interview thread. I encourage you to look at it.

The reason I was rejected by CO was- I screwed up both the interview AND preps good and proper. By far one of my worst. I was really, really tensed, my hands did not stop shaking and I was not as articulate and conversant as I generally am.

One tip- DONT come off as desperate or get tensed at an interview. Be your wonderful/lovely self. Your credentials got you so far. Your skills and personality will take you farther.

In CO I don't think citizenship is the issue.

thanks,
Sure!

actually how i answer question like, do you bring your family wiyh you.

You could if you want to. And if the situation works better for you guys. Some students had their families in CO

do you stay at colorado after the program

Depends on you- getting a job, your spouse's wishes, kid(s) likes if any and if you like living in so much snow.

. and is it time really short for exercises.

Depends on how you manage time. We had 3 hours. I had divided 1.45 Hrs for tooth prep and 1.15 Hrs for wax exercises.

I screwed it all up...so it was the end of story for me.

Hi Incision,

Can u pls tell me whether composite preparations are asked in bench exam in UC and any type of crown prep can be asked like pfm or gold?
R we given exercises like crown prep and cavity cutting on spot?

Hi La Fea .......
Kindly clear my few queries about d bench exam ....

1. Do we have 2 do d prep in indirect view for maxillary palatal side ????
2. Does d univ provide us wid all d material or do we carry some stuff wid us ???
3. Are d preps 2 be done using an airrotor or micromotor handpiece ???
4. For cavity prep (Class 2), do we have 2 do filling also or just d prep ???
5. Is d interview tough ??? Do they ask clinical questions or just d general interaction??
6. How many students were called for d interview ??

Any other piece of advice u can give would be greatly appreciated ....
Thankx a lot.

1. Yes. But I know some people who are comfortable w/ direct vision- by turning the mannequin head appropriately.
2. You can take your own stuff. In fact I recommend this. Except handpiece. They provide their own and that's what you have to use. Adjust the speed (they'll tell you how) to about 12. If you go too fast, you will burn the tooth.
3. They provide their own. It has adjustable speed.
4. Just prep
5. No. Mostly general. They had some ethical questions for some people. Again, nothing difficult.
6.100 I think.

DO NOT get nervous. Be relaxed.
