I am getting ready to fly to my first active duty rotation and am trying to decide which uniforms to pack in my seabag vs. which ones to leave at home. I am definitely bringing my summer whites/dress white (just in case)/ khakis, but I was wondering if it is worthwhile to pack the NWUs? I will be doing a Peds sub-I in Portsmouth.

Thanks everyone!

No need to bring any whites unless you are interviewing there (then do). I am supposing that your sub I is inpatient so 4-5 pairs of scrubs (they might issue you a few pair as well). Take a couple of pairs of your khakis. You will check in in those and do whatever AHLTA training you will need in them as we'll. once you are up on the wards it's PJ time.

It depends on where you are doing the SubI at Portsmouth. If you are NICU or Nursery you will be in scrubs. If you are just doing inpatient the uniform will be Khakis or NWU. I recently did a Peds rotation at Portsmouth and scrubs were only worn when on call in the Peds ward.

Contact the program secretary or someone at the command to ask the current uniform (or see if their Plan of the Day is Public).

Definitely no need to bring dress whites. Uniform of the day at NMCP use to be NWUs with Khakis as alternate--this was at least up through 2012. Sometimes the last friday of the month is a different uniform--summer whites during summer and blues during winter--but check on this.
