The supplemental application for Univ of Appalachia has short essays all based on agricultural and rural environment. I am thinking about applying to this school because I am aiming for a 3 year accelerated program. Can anyone give me any input on this institution? Is it even worth applying to this school if I am not interested in rural/agricultural environment?

Also, does any one know if Univ of Houston favors Texas residents and how hard is it to get in as a non-Texas resident (average gpa, pcat, etc). Any school(s) in Texas that does NOT favor Texas residents?

Thanks for all your feedback!

I seem to remember someone of authority at UH telling me that 95% come from in-state, but that may mean that 95% of applicants are in-state. Check the school's web site if you haven't already. If you cannot find the info there, call. Everyone that I have dealt with has been helpful. Good luck.

I believe all of the public schools in Texas take at least 90% residents by law. I don't remember if this is a law or just how it works out. You could try Unversity of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, it's a private school so I think they would take more out of state students because they don't receive funding from the state. It's also a new school so the past two years they've had less applicants than many of the other schools here. Good luck to you.
