Hello everybody..For all that applied to University of Georgia School of Pharmacy for 2007 cycle...

I called the admissions office secretary and she said admissions committee is still looking at apps and selecting students for the final batch of interviews and this process should be done by the end of March

As far as my stats go, 3.0 GPA and 70% PCAT, as you can see Im not a 4.0 student with a 99% PCAT but I feel that I am still a competitive applicant with plenty of experience, extra-curricular, achievements, and the determination to succeed.

Im still waiting to hear from UGA for an interview..hopefully I getta inivitation letter in the next couple days im out of state

IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE THAT HAS GOTTEN ACCEPTED OR INTERVIEWED OR WAITING TO GETTA INTERVIEW LIKE ME?? IF SOO WAT ARE YOU STATS LIKE AND PLEASE SHARE ANYTHING THAT I MIGGHT BENEFIT FROM? BY THE WAY, HOW MANY INTERVIEWS DOES UGA GIVES OUT..IS IT about 215-230?? THANKSS!!

PLEASE POST!!!😀 😀

UGA gives preference to in state residents. I got my BS there and talked to the pharmacy prof I had and not many out of state students are accepted. He told me its all about politics. He told me to get accepted I would need to make a 90% on my PCAT and then I had a 3.52 GPA.

I'm also still waiting to hear. I have a 3.5 and a 87 PCAT, but I don't think it'll be good enough. I am in-state though, so that might help a little..Good luck!

I'm about the same...gpa = 3.75 with 85 PCAT. Haven't heard anything and I'm instate too. However, I haven't checked my e-mail in a week because of spring break--hopefully there might be something waiting for be, but who knows...

I have a 3.7 and an 83 on the PCAT while full-time active duty Air Force. I'm also an in-state student but I don't think I'll get accepted to UGA.

I'm getting interviewed on 26th of March. Still nervous about it.

what are the fascillities like at Georgia?

I've been officially denied (without interview) from UGA with a GPA of 3.64 and a PCAT score of 83. I guess UGA holds an applicant accountable for grades that are over 7 years old. The only reason that I'm assuming this is because if the grades weren't averaged out then I would have a GPA of 3.92. Good luck getting into this school of politics, I mean pharmacy.

My understanding is that they don't consider any grades except for the exact classes required as prereqs.

Old grades 7 years ago:

Psychology: A
College Algebra: A
Pre-Calculus: A

Apparently I'm not competitive, however I am slightly bitter.

Are you an instate student?

In-state paying my taxes active duty military. I called and left a message with the assistant dean's secretary awaiting a more detailed explanation as to why I wasn't competitive enough. Given my PCAT is only 83, I still should have probably received at least an interview.

I know plenty of people with better stats that have not gotten into UGA (last year and before). I was told that unless PCAT is 90 or better to not apply...mine is 85 and I didn't apply there. In the last few years, the only people I know that have gotten accepted to UGA have almost perfect GPA and 99 PCAT. One of my friends had an 89 pcat, 3.89 GPA, and went to UGA for undergrad got denied from UGA last year, but was accepted to Mercer and South. She currently goes to South. So, don't beat yourself up!

I know a person who officially received an interview with a PCAT score in the high 70's and a decent GPA. Of course brevity is important when talking about other people.

Man..... I think that a school that doesn't consider you "competitive" probably doesn't deserve to have you as an alumnus.

A smart school will admit you, and they'll get the benefit of your abilities, your maturity, and your committment to your craft.

From UGA stats last year:
# Interviewed: 226
# Accepted: 127 (14% of applicants)
AVG. GPA: 3.7
AVG. PCAT: 93

I'm guessing thier standards are pretty high. But there are also a lot of people below 93 and above 93. I'd say if you really want to go UGA, retake the PCAT and get a better score and reapply. Its only one more year versus an entire life time.

Well if I don't get into Mercer then I'll probably stick around GA for one more year to complete more of my undergrad, then apply to schools closer to home (MD). I originally wanted to go to UM Baltimore, but I fell short on the pre-reqs., but next year I'll be more than qualified. I appreciate the positiveness though, most people on SDN are very supportive.

Just got the rejection letter too...

85 PCAT, 3.8 GPA, instate

no interview, just a NO...which seems ******ed since I got an interview at Purdue (much better school, in my opinion---havent heard about acceptance/rejection there though)...

oh well...my brother goes to Ga Tech, so he didn't want me going to UGA anyway haha

We can start our own little hater club. From what I'm told UGA is a school of contacts, plus they protect their own (meaning undergrads) before they usually give consideration to other GA residents. Your stats are awesome, and considering what I know, you should of at least received an interview.

Thanks. I wasn't really that enthusiastic about going there at all, but it was instate so it was cheap!! haha. It would at least been nice to know I was good enough....but I guess you're right about protecting the current undergrads. South Carolina (where I currently go) considers all current undergrads "instate" during admissions procedures, so even technical out-of-staters (like me!) get a little bit of a boost over other out-of-staters.

dont give up hope..from the looks of things it doesnt seem like that many ppl applied anynoe compared to some other schools..what do you think?

Got rejected also. 87 PCAT, 3.5 GPA, in-state. I'm not too beat up about it though. I just don't understand b/c I know a guy who got in last year with a 70 PCAT, almost 4.0 at a community college. Do they not care where they got their credits? To me a 4.0 at normal CC's = about 3.2 at other schools, and I've attended both types.

Was the person possibly a legacy student? I'm pretty sure that UGA is open about the fact that legacy students will have priority and seats in their program.

No, I'm 95% sure that none of his family went to pharmacy school there.

I have an interview on March 28th.

My stats:

PCAT: 95% composite
GPA: 3.95
Pharm Experience: < 100 hours.

UGA does not look at school, to get an interview they look at GPA and PCAT then you get interviewed based on those two components. Then, at the interview they will probably ask about the school, but from what I was yold from a faculty memeber there, university gets you better prepared for PCAT then a community school. I would kind of agree with that assumption too.

I'd disagree. I came from one of the small university in GA and I scored a 99% on PCAT. Testing is about people not schools. Great people will do great things no matter the school they are in. Being able to be in a such a great school like UGA gives lots of opportunity and highly published teachers do help a lot, UGA will give you more diverse experience, but in such a big university you're just a number and its hard to get one on one with the professors. Grad students are mostly foreigners, most of them barely speak english, and they're there to get Ph.D not teach. If I could of afford UGA, no doubt I would go there for my undergrad.

can everyone who got accpeted or recived oan interview or got denied admiissions post their stats...

Denied:
GPA (as calculated by UGA): 3.48
PCAT: 83
100 hrs of shadowing
Active duty military

why isnt anyone posting.. there were over 1000+ applicants that applied...please post people.. doesnt matter whther u got rejected or accepted please share your stats!! post post post

hahahahahaha i feel your pain. i interviewed back in jan and still havent heard anything back yet. they supposedly finish up their interviews in april and then start sending out letters in mid-april. which means that all of us waiting should be hearing soon...i hope 🙂

AHHH I just got my acceptance letter today! soo exicited! anyone else here from them yet?

What was the post mark date on your mail?

Yahooooo!!!!
I just got the acceptance letter from UGA
I think it would be great to be in touch with future classmates and also where to live 😉
What do you all think?

Those of you who did get accepted, can you give us your stats (GPA, PCAT, others).

Accepted.

GPA: 3.95
PCAT: 80
Interview: Went very well. One of the pharmacy students that showed up to meet the students recognized me and he referred my name to the interviewers. One of the interviewers was also an organic chemist, so I was able to identify with him and we had common ground, since I work in an organic lab. The interview was laid back so I managed to make the interviewers laugh. I'm sure I scored pretty high in this area.
MISC: Lots of research, and TA experience. Pharmacy tech experience.
Excellent recommendations from my professors. I also have a degree in chemistry.

After this experience, I learned that its NEVER over until its over, and keep giving a 100% until you loose.

I got accepted too. Woo-hoo!

I was accepted (out-of state)
I have a BS. Biology and 7 years experience with a major Pharma company (R&D)

GPA: 3.79
PCAT 99%

good luck

I realize this is a little awkward to do this here, but are any of you who got accepted by chance trying to find a room mate(s) and/or housing arrangements in Athens? I really want to room with someone in the pharmacy program there. Anyways, if anybody's interested, just shoot me a PM. By the way, I'm very easy going and i'm not mentally unstable or anything, if that happens to be one of your concerns.

I'm also looking for a room mate, if interested drop me a line.

I can vouch for p-rog. He's only slightly unstable at times exhibiting biting and scratching. These are all bearable things that any roommate could live with. This should help you find a roommate prog! :meanie:

I would also be looking for roommates. I think it would be great to share an apartment/dorm with another graduate student. I don't know anyone in at UGA so I am just afraid to join those HEAVY partiers freshmen. Let me know what you guys (and girls) think. And congratulations to those who got accepted!

Does anyone know how many people they put on the waiting list each year? And approximately how many they accept?

for those who got rejected or accepte dor offered an interview please share your stats because I would like to be admitted next yr.,thanks!

sucks... I have no more HOPE because of my undergraduate degree. Now I got to pay for tution, books and rent with money I don't have.

Looks like it's time to take out a loan. Lucky for you, you got accepted to a public school with a relatively low tuition fee. Anyways, I would worry about it. When you get out, you'll be making plenty to pay back your loans in a timely manner.
