I received a letter yesterday from UMN. I was put in alternate list. 🙁
Anyone put on Alternate list or get accepted? Plz post...Do i have any chances atall for 2006 year? Have they sent any rejection letters (for those who attended the interview)? or is it that everyone is put on alternate list?

I applied only for UMN and NYU as other application dates were over. I had taken my part 1 in late January. What are my chances for next year for admission in 2 year program or should i join NYU this year if given admission?

If your GPA 3.92 is from ECE then you have a strong chance of getting in BU/ UPenn for 2007 cycle provided you apply early.

i am confused as i used to think 93 in part one plus good gpa should be secure enough to get into a dental school. but i was wrong. look at this UMN 2006 cycle, so many qualified people were rejected. i really don't know what else we can do to be accepted? i am on the same boat with you guys, waitlist at UMN with 93(part I)\3.7(ECE). sigh...........

Well, you are right that 93 is a good score ;infact a great score and a good GPA will get you into school. But UMN this year was an exceptional case as they had only six seats and diversity being an issue ( in my opinion ) admission was very competitive. But like rahmed said, in order to be sure of admission, in addition to great credentials it is essential to apply early and to more than one school. That way your chances of getting in improves.

With almost all other two year programs being filled up already ,
people who applied to UMN in Jan and Feb onwards faced stiff competition.

Hang in there, I am sure in the next admission cycle you will be admitted to more than one program.

I am pretty much in the same situation 😳 ... had 91 in Part 1 and 3.94 GPA (ECE)....applied to UMN in last week of FEB... was very positive about the interview 🙂 .....but got rejected without it 🙁 .....Now waiting for Colorado 😉 ... lets see.....

I think it will be better for us to be patient ......no point of getting frustrated.....there is long way to go

For those wondering about the accepted students at UMN, I know that two others were accepted in addition to me ,well over a month or so ago. Last week, three more candidates were accepted. Whether or not these three candidates will join for sure, I do not know yet but as soon as as I find out I will let u guys know.

On a side note, of the six accepted so far two of us are of Indian origin.
