What university would be recommended? Atlantic Canada preferably but I'll consider anywhere to make the dream happen

Wherever you want. You don't need a pre-vet program. Pick a school that's a good fit for you. I went the "pre-vet" route, but hated the school. I was much happier transferring to a different school and just taking the courses I needed.

AVC has a pre-vet program as well as a veterinary school. And if you were able to establish residency on PEI during undergrad, you'd stand a better chance of being accepted to the vet school when you apply.

But, it's not necessary to go to a specific pre-vet program. You can do your pre-reqs anywhere. The websites for any college in Canada will give you plenty of information on which schools will be best suited for a science/pre-vet major.

Where was your pre-vet program/the school you switched to? I notice your location is Nova Scotia which is where I live

There are a lot of people in my class that went into the Animal Health program at the University of Alberta and recommend it for pre-vets. I realize that may be a bit far for you though. 🙂

Any university that offers the prereqs would work, though I would pick one you think you would enjoy. Keeping residency in mind if you're wanting to go to AVC would be wise as well.

When I decided to start on the vet path, I went pre-vet at NSAC (Dal Ag campus now). But the AC and Truro weren't a good fit for me. After a year, I transferred to Dal, and Halifax/Dalhousie was a much better fit for me. (Not to knock the AC; I know tons of people who loved it.)

UPEI and Dal (previously NSAC) both have pre vet programs. I went to Dal and I loved it. They have farm animals on sight that are used frequently for classes. It's a small town which I preferred.

Just a note though about gaining residency. You can't gain residency while you're in undergrad. Your residency will be be based off of where your parents live or where you worked for 12 consecutive months without going to school. Feel free to ask me any specific questions about Dal.
