University Observership vs. Shadowing

Hey guys...

I'm looking in to doing an observership at a university but I'm wondering what the advantages would be over just shadowing at a private dentist office. Uni observerships cost quite a lot, whereas private dental shadowing is free... Does anyone have any opinions/experience with this???? Is applying for the uni observership worth it? Please don't read and ignore this, all opinions are welcome and very much needed!!

Hey, I'll jus give you my opinion. If you want to get into a 'specific' university like UCLA, UCSF then doing an observership 'there' makes more sense.. It'll be good if u can get some recom letters from the staff.. I'm not too sure how 'other' universities perceive the obeserverhips.. Else you're better off doing an observership at a private clinic and take a letter from the dentist.. Also keep in mind the cost of program, living expenses and visa issues..

Hey.. thanks for your opinion! I applied to BU but they specifically mentioned that AS applicants can't do their observership 🙁 Anyway, will research this to death before applying. Gracias.

It is accepted, it's counted as US dental experience. I was just wondering if it was better to have that on your CV or just a plain shadowing/observing at a private dentist office.

i have both in my resume...but havent heard anything yet...
