University of Buffalo 2012 Application

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Can someone tell me clearly the major differences between the class 2 prep for amalgam and composite?
Thanks

The major differences for composite are: PS corrections/comment/ suggestions ?????
1) More Shallower cavity prep
2) Slight wall divergence
3) outline form narrower covering the lesion only

What I am not sure is for Class II Comp on premolar do we have to make only proximal box or extend it to occlusal surface also ??
Thanks !!!!!!

Does anyone know if they have surveying or not? If anyone directly asked them pls post it here. I don't want to bug them!

I think we need to extend the proximal box to the occlusalsurface. On the bench test guidelines, they said MO resin preparation onpremolar. I suppose MO is mesio-occlusal resin cavity prep.

But, please correct me if I am wrong. 🙂

Well that makes sense about MO. But just wanted to be sure the extension of outline form is same as we do for amalgam as composites are supposedly to be conservative cavity preps..... Thanks for your insight !!!!

I am confused now. If I am not wrong, we have to include distal pit for composite MO conservative prep, right? conservative prep mean width of the isthmus should not be more than 1/3 of the intercuspal distance. anyone please confirm this. Thanks

Just verified, sorry for any confusions !!!!!
The class II MO composite restoration includes mesial and/or marginal ridge, mesial and/or distal pit, and the central groove.

Thanks......

Thank you for verifying. I have one more question. For composite restoration, cavity should be as narrow as possible in compare to amalgam? how can we differentiate that this is the composite MO or amalgam MO just by looking it?

Is using water while doing preparations compulsary in UB.. If anyone could help. Thanks

hi everyone,

congrats to all accepted!!!

i have been accepted to both university of pacific and buffalo.
both the schools are equally expensive, but i love pacific school and of course a very old IDS Program.

any suggestions please.

in times when you have to pic between two very good, that are both expensive, i would go with gut instinct. You got to choose a school you know you will be comforatble in.. good luck!

I am very happy and excited finally got accepted, Thanks to sdn😍:soexcited::banana::banana::banana::banana:

why this under review dilemma, they could easily send that you are not selected for interview. That's it. so many people in under review like me, which refers a very unrealistic prediction.
Being under review, final minute interview call then acceptance. Everything is fine except loss of dad. Life is a real drama. Good luck to everybody whoever striving for dental school. There is always light at the end of the tunnel !
