An OTA that worked where I did some observation hours was enrolling in Findlay for this fall. Not sure if it's only for OTAs?? I'm from Ohio but I ruled it out for some reason that I don't recall, that may have been why.

I am also in Ohio and considered Findlay. Like you I can't recall why I ruled it out. I see if I can find any emails I exchanged with them. I want to say some requirement weekend program I didn't fit... Will look and see.
If you guys are in Ohio where else did you apply? I didn't apply to anywhere in Ohio. Nearest places I applied were Pitt Grand Valley and Western Michigan.

I applied to Ohio State, Cleveland State, and Toledo in the state, and all over the southeast - Belmont, WSSU, Temple, MUSC, and East Carolina. Most likely going to go out of state, which stings financially, as you obviously get by applying all out of state! I was kind of disappointed that there weren't more options in Ohio. I guess there's Xavier too, but I ruled it out for some reason that I forget. Ohio has some other strong universities that don't have an OT program, like OU, Kent, even Akron! I wish we had more in-state options - just next door in PA there are SO many programs!

I also applied to Toledo, Belmont, Winston Salem, MUSC except that it was for last year's application cycle.
I really do wish Ohio had more options as well. Shawnee State and Cleveland State are so heavy on the science prerequisites that I just couldn't afford to add them to the list of classes to take!

the weekend program is for OTAs or anyone with an associates or bachelors degree in a related field as OT and have at least 1 year of working experience in the health field. Classes are every other weekend for like 3 or 3 1/2 years. This is designed for the working "adult learner" who have families and other commitments. I was interested in applying to the traditional program because I would like to be a full time student but they say it would take 5 1/2 years to obtain my masters in OT.. 😵 I know its a combined bachelors/masters, but I would think since I already have a bachelors in a related field that most of those credits would transfer and I would technically enroll as a sophomore or junior in the traditional program.

Hi everyone. I was actually enrolled in Findlay's weekend OT program that would have started this past summer (2011). I wasn't able to start because of the expenses. If you already have a Bachelor's Degree like most who enter that weekend program, then they can't offer you much financial assistance. For the year it was like 26,000 and all they gave me in federal loans was 12,000. So I would have had to come up with the other 14,000 myself or from a private lender which was not happening. It sucked because I was in a program and now I am still applying! Anyway, I got accepted to Shawnee State and it is super cheap and only 2 years, but I am not too keen on living in SOUTHERN Ohio alone for that long. UGH.

I totally forgot about Shawnee state as well, which I crossed off my list of potential programs early on for some unknown reason. I was fortunate that Cleveland State accepted most of the classes I have taken - my roommate was going to apply to their PT program but they wouldn't accept the same Physiology class from our school but the OT program does? Weird. I'm only taking one extra class for them, Neuroscience, which luckily I have room for in my last quarter of undergrad and even if I don't go there I feel that taking that course would be beneficial for any OT program. I didn't take physics though, and frankly didn't want to, so that was the main thing that narrowed down my options. How funny that I applied to a lot of the same programs you did! Sorry they didn't seem to have worked out for you though 🙁 I hope you have much better luck this cycle!

Thanks for the luck! Yep, this cycle went much better. I was accepted to Unv. of Pitt. I am still waiting to hear back from other schools as well.
When do you hear back from Cleveland State? I think I recall Shawnee and Cleveland State's deadlines were early. Oh how I wish all schools had the same deadlines across the board!! It gets so confusing.

Congrats! Confusing indeed... CSU's deadline was January 15 and they told me it would take at least a month to hear back. Still waiting!

People are always asking when I will know if I got in. They seem so surprised when I tell them I don't really know. I have had a school tell me 1 week after I submitted the application I was rejected and I have had schools take 5 months!
I hope you get in where you would like to go. I saw that you may end up going out of state like me.
