Anyone interview at the University of Florida programs? They have 3 (Jacksonville, Pensacola, and Gainesville) and I was wondering what your thoughts on the 3 are?
Pensacola is a nice small program. Nice facilities, small city (300,000 almost). The faculty seemed cool...the lecture hours aren't too high! I also heard on the interview trail that some applicants described the faculty as super "conservative."
Sure I would love to!! I have mostly interviewed in the SE but a few out west ( UNLV, UNM, Kaiser Oakland). I didnt interview at all in Florida though- I thought that was where you were headed. I have really liked LSU NO, LSU Shreveport and MCG. Didnt care so much for University of Maryland. How about you?
I am in fact headed to Florida (it looks like). I did interview at UMD. It was an absolute turn off, especially when the interviewer asked me "why here and not up the street at Hopkins?"The other con was the fact that the residents have no say in th eselection process. I don't like that since you'd think that the people who will work with you the most should at the least have an opinion that matters. The facilities was okay though.
I was really impressed by Washington Hosp. Center. Their program director had his stuff together and made a great pitch.
