Sorry guys, I don't know! I wasn't over at the VAB today. Though it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't mail them Saturday.. it's UF after all 🙂

I work 2 jobs, and my house is way out of the way to rush home to check the mail if I know for sure it's not going to be there. Plus, it'll be less scary for the mailman. 😀
 
Anybody else hoping to get the last interview date for Penn too? Pretty rough situation here if we get both interviews (FL OOS).
 
I called UF today to ask about the letters going out for In State applicants (since i've been out of town for the last week, and am leaving again in 2 days for another 4 days for more interviews).

She said they were sent to the mail room yesterday, but because it was a holiday they were picked up by the mail peeps first thing this morning.
so for those in-state, we should be getting them in the next day or two.

Pretty much exactly what I said- they didn't make the mail last week, but made the sort this morning (Tuesday). Just two more days...
 
The waiting is driving me slightly more crazy than I previously anticipated :bang:

Um, yeah, I'm with you. I talked to people at the post office today, and they said that if they did in fact go out this morning, that Gainesville-to-Gainesville mail goes overnight, so we should have them by tomorrow. :scared: So if I'm having a small panic attack in microbio and/or wildlife tomorrow, you'll know why, splashie!

eek!!! I'm down about 40 minutes south of Tampa....so I should get mine tomorrow or friday at the latest.... :xf:

Does anyone know if OOS was also sent out at the same time? (Obviously, it wouldn't come by today because of the distance, I just wanted to know if it might come tomorrow since I leave town Friday morning.)

Big envelopes. As far as OOS. I'm pretty sure they send them all out at once.
 
I got my letter in the mail today... I am interviewing on March 7th at 4:30pm!! I can't believe interviews are going to be 50 minutes, so I won't be getting out of mine til after 5pm...hmm, wonder if I can catch a tour of the place before my interview...
 
Big, THICK envelopes! There's a bunch of information on financial aid included with the letter. I was very glad, because as soon as I took it out of my mailbox I was convinced that they wouldn't reject me with a letter that size. That would just be cruel. Also, I'm 90% sure OOS went out at the same time as IS. It'll just take an extra day or two to get there.

Kiki1983, I think you can get a tour beforehand. Just arrive early. I know at Kansas State they ran tours every half hour or so, so you could just join whatever group you wanted. If you're interviewing at 4:30, I'd probably get there no later than 3 if you want to tour first.

We are running hourly tours immediately after each interview group gets out, so you might have to show 1-2 hours early to get in with an earlier tour group AND make your interview on time.
 
OOS-ers got their letters today - in case anyone OOS is wondering if they should rush home.
(And the Big/Small rule seems to be true for OOS too.)

I'm in California, too, but didn't get my letter yet. I'm pretty confident that I will be joining you on the rejection list in short order. 😳

So I was just here chillin at my hotel in Purdue, nervous about tomorrow's interview. My mom just called to say hi and tell me I just got a big envelope from Florida. I almost dropped the phone! She tore it open for me and read the interview acceptance letters practically in tears (not sad ones!). I'm still in shock! Thanks to RockStar UF has climbed to the top of my list once again. I'm from central Florida, and now that their new animal hospital is underway I would really love to go to Florida!

Got my official rejection today but I'm ok with it (I'm very happy with Ohio). But I wanted to wish everyone the best of luck with your upcoming interviews and :luck: to everyone else who has yet to hear!

I'm crossing my fingers I get something in the mail tomorrow. A rejection would even be fine in my book as I think I would be plenty happy at Ohio.

An interview just means I am going to draw the entire process out another 2 months, but I feel the need to give Florida a fair shake.
 
Does anyone know how many out of staters Florida interviews and then how many they accept and/or put on waitlist?

I got an out of state interview, but I don't know if I should go..if I don't, does it open up an interview spot for another potential candidate? If it does, I think I might just cancel it, if not, then ehh why not I guess...

I gave specific numbers earlier in this same thread, though it varies year to year. Yes, if you cancel your interview, it opens up an interview spot, though not necessarily for an OOS candidate, IIRC.

I have 6 OOS interviews and 3 acceptances so far....but might not interview IS????
I'm bummed
Maybe my mail is just slow
 
All the letters were sent out at once, so whether it's a rejection or an interview, slow mail is the problem!

Thanks for the advice... since my interview is at 4:30, I think I will try to show up around 2:30 or 3:00 and hopefully a tour will be starting right around then so I can do that before my interview.

Got mine today. OOS, SC!!! 3/21 at 4:30pm. I was born in FL so maybe that's good luck!:xf:

Hey, I've got a question for the current UF vet students that have been writing on this thread.... were you notified by phone that you were accepted, or did you have to wait for the letter in the mail? My only concern is when I will find out the decision because I have a March 30th deadline to accept and put down my deposit for UCD (Ireland...my only acceptance so far)...I looked at last year's rejection letter from UF (yes, I kept it for some reason) and it was postmarked April 2nd...so if that stayed true to this year, I wouldn't find out in time before I had to decide....
 
Kiki1983, I'm not a current UF vet student, but I do hang out with a bunch of them. 😉 They send out acceptances and rejections by snail mail, or at least they did through last year. As much as it sucks, I wouldn't expect a decision one way or the other before April 1.

I'm in a slightly similar situation, not with vet schools, but with living arrangements. I got a letter from my landlord telling me if I want to stay in my apartment I have to sign a new lease by March 10. Well, that's great, except that it's only 3 days after my interview here. I'm going to talk to my landlord next week, but I'm not really sure what I'm going to do.. I don't want to sign a lease here and then end up moving to Ohio or Kansas and eat my deposit.
 
So I've received something from Florida...I just don't know what it is yet... It was sent to the wrong address 🙁

Edit: Just got my invite via email 😀 March 21st. Yay!
