Oh yeah...and I made it to Baltimore last night (yay!). We're headed this morning to look at apartments, which I always enjoy. I'm probably in for a rude awakening when I see the size vs. cost ratio here in B-more compared with central-MO (where I am convinced has one of the lowest cost-of-livings in the entire US)

Stupid Ceridian screwed up and no one in my company on direct deposit got paid today. 🙁 But they promised we'd get our direct deposits by midnight, so we will have money to drink, I mean spend, tomorrow night 🙂

Have you guys ever skiied Whistler or WA state? I used to live in Seattle and couldn't get enough! My dad still lives about 1 hour from Crystal Mountain, so if we went there, he could hook us up with a free place to stay 🙂
Actually, if you book early enough, Whistler/Blackcomb has some pretty comptitive packages.

I'd go and get drunk in the lodging while you all ski. I suck ASS at skiing.

And yeah, prices are pretty nuts in the Baltimore area. If you are willing to go out into the county, they are much, much more reasonable. IE, Towson apartments are almost half the price of the ones near school.

Awww, thanks LW. I'm sure it was meant to be for some reason. There is a better place for us, maybe even with a finished basement that Greg can keep all his poker stuff in so he can have his games weekly and not worry about the mess. 🙂

So we were really surprised today, while looking at apartments, how close everything is. I knew they would be nearby, but I didn't know Centerpoint was literally right next door to the Redwood. And both are definitely within easy walking distance to the med school and Inner Harbor. I'm sure it was a really touristy thing to do, but we went down to Inner Harbor for dinner. It seems like there was a lot of activity down there for the Volvo Ocean Race...thats some crazy stuff...8 months on a sailboat around the world.

Anyway, we decided we liked Centerpoint the best out of the 4 places we looked, and put a small deposit down to hold an apartment. We haven't signed a lease yet, but its still exciting (though not as cool as LW and her house). Oh, and LS, I'm down with egging or soy-saucing those people that bought your home...just give me the time and place. 😉

Very cool! I was pretty impressed with everything there...location, amenities, etc. The price is a little expensive, but then again so is everything in that area. Were you looking at an apartment in their tower or in one of the historic buildings?

I looked a while ago but I liked the tower bulding because the kitchen was enclosed by an island which I like. Do they still have the parking special going on? What about you, what apartment were you looking at.

I really like the hard wood floors and darker cabinetry in the historic building, but the only apartments that were available when we would need it were small or against another building and therefore wouldn't get a whole lot of sunlight. They offered us two specials...either 2 months free rent (sign 14 month lease) or 1 month free rent plus 1 year free parking. I thought they were both pretty good deals, because it cuts almost $200 a month off the rent.

I was not planning on moving end untill the end of July/Aug 1st. But I guess if you get a month for free I can move in early July. But they would not let me hold a spot this early for an end of July/Aug spot when I went a couple of months ago. Do you know if they had alot of openings in the tower? I think that I am gonna call the guy I spoke to when I went .

I just picked 6 randomly because I know that people are always "fashionably late" (myself included) and figured we'd all start showing up 6:30-7 anyway. I'm actually almost ready to go...I just need to put on some jeans and get the directions to SQ's hotel. I'm gonna try and pick you guys up around 6:30, but it'll depend on the traffic. They only had a couple of apartments that were going to be available when we wanted to move that were in our size/price range. Still, there were enough to make us feel like we had a good choice, and the lady we met with talked about a high-turnover over the summer. It seems to be easier to get an apartment in the tower than in the historic buildings (she didn't mention any lofts that would be available, much to my disappointment).

I thought about that on the way home, then realized, no, she was being snotty. It'd be one thing if after she said where, she then replied with, "oh cool, I'm just down the road at hopkins, isn't baltimore great?" but instead, she chooses to just look all of us up and down and then comes out with a shrug followed by "hopkins and walks inside.
