How was your interview? 50 candidates per day!!!Are you sure? How do they manage??

I know that there is at least one more interview on the 25th (it was on th list of choices given to me when offered the interview). I remember they said they will interview until the end of the month so I don't think they will go beyond that.

I don't remember how many were there - didn't really count.

I had to go from the pharmacy building to PLC - that was kind of a pain since I didn't know where I was going but people were nice to show me the right direction. It was a little confusing finding the entrance to the building since there was so much construction (I had people in hard hats giving me weird looks asking me where I was going :laugh:). I was actually a little late for the 8:30 check in time since I couldn't find the entrance but fortunately it didn't actually start until 8:45.

But at least when you come to UMB in the fall you will NOT have construction but the prettiest new building EVER!!! YAY! I had to live through THREE years of construction (even some hammering during my 7:30am exams)!! 😛

Thank you..I just wanted to know if any questions other than the ones in the feedback sections were asked..Glad to know you made it in time..good luck🙂

Does anyone know when the last of the interviews will be held? I interviewed back in January and I am hoping to hear from them soon! This wait is killing me! Good luck to everyone =)

There weren't any surprise questions during my interview, I just studied what was on the interview feedback section. I think the big question was "if you were working in a group and one of your group members wasn't pulling their weight, how would you handle it?!" I was asked that question about three times, kind of ridiculous! haha
As for how many people were at my interview, there were about 25 of us and they split you into groups of about 5/6 people, so i guess thats how they manage it because everyone is on a different schedule. They have two interview sessions a day so 25 x 2 = 50 people interviewed per day. Kind of crazy but thats how it works! good luck to you! im still waiting to hear back from them, the wait is a killer!

There is one more interview date. I am not sure what they are going to do with the cancelled date (due to snow storm). The morning and afternoon session has 24 slots each, so it equates to 48 a day.

They split everyone into 4 groups (A,B,C,D) with 6 people each. Maryland has an awesome scheduling system where people rotate between group discussion, faculty interview, student interview, and essay. Each group is broken down into 3 pairs, one pair would go to group discussion (which consist of 8 people, one pair from each group), while that pair is in group discussion, another one pair would go to essay/student panel (also 8 people), and the last pair alternate between student and faculty interview. It is actually very simple and easy to follow and makes everything flow smoothly.

I'll have my interview this Thursday. But I'm not concerned about it all. I probably have already given it up.

So how long does it take to hear back after interview??

I called and they said that they would make the decision after interviewing everyone. So, it's gonna be early April that we should hear back from them.

What do you mean?

Early April? Did they say that? Are the interviews still supposed to finish before March or are they being pushed back? That extra wait will really mess with this whole process 🙁

when i went for my interview they told us that we would know by mid-march at the latest. apparently they said that last year and some people found out earlier than that, around mid-february ~2 weeks after their interviews. so, i feel like we can sit here and speculate about when they will send them out but none of us really know until that acceptance letter is in our email. kind of sucks, but thats the way it is. patience is key..too bad i dont have any!

It is really hard to be patient at this moment. I want to hear as soon as possible. Good luck to everyone. 🙂

Patience is tough.. especially when there are other school's responding faster! I'm trying my hardest 😳

I have another interview on saturday but none after that. Then there is the wait. I'm already starting to get a little restless. I should have a a few results coming in about mid-march to april. It wasn't so bad after my previous interviews because I always had another one to prepare/plan for. But now it's going to be hard.
I was really impressed with Maryland. I knew about the curriculum from people here but it was great to hear more about it.

Was anyone from SDN on the student panel for interviews on the 19th?

Does anyone have the link to the interview feedback? - because the page I found (http://more.studentdoctor.net/interviewlist.php?school=321&sort=10) has latest entries from 2009.
Thanks!👍

GOSH!😱 I can feel for you guys...the suspense must be REALLY hard, but at least the interview and application and PCAT processes are over!😉

Oh yea... I totally know what you mean. I'm having a really hard time holding out for March. Now it's April?! 🙁

Yea... I heard that too. But, I looked back to last year's posts and someone mentioned something along the lines of: "I wonder why they are responding so quickly this year." Which implies to me that last year's admissions may have been an exception. 🙁

I hope we are pleasantly surprised next week

I'm thinking the snow shouldn't have pushed decisions back? :xf:

yeah im hoping by next week too. but after reading back on this thread it seems like most people hear by the first monday in the second week of march aka march 8th this year.

but like i said im probably just wasting my time speculating. but i guess im also wasting my time checking my email 100 times a day! 🙄

so, i submitted my pharmcas in november as well as mu supplemental. i know they recieved it because they cashed the check immediately. so why have I not heard anything from them? i know interviews are just about over. all i'm saying is... at least give me a courtesy letter saying no.. thats kinda mean to have people waiting around

Well, most schools don't send out rejection until later (UMD is no exception). You either get an interview invite or you don't; you can call and inquire about your status. I know it's tough but that's why you have to be proactive about your application. I remember when I was applying, I would frequently call up the schools because I wasn't hearing back from them. For one school, had I not called, I wouldn't have gotten an interview. Good luck.

Does UMB mail or email the acceptance letter? (obviously they'll mail it but I was just curious to know that they would email it as well...)
This is taking toooooooooooo long😡 but thats the way it is 😀

I just got the interview invitation!!!!! I do not know whether I would
have a chance to get accept or not!!! But Still I am happy that I at least got invited to the interview. I found they have one more day for interview on March.

Do you guys know how many positions are left for the regular applicants? That is how many offers have already been given out during early decison.

In total, how many applicants they are interviewing now, so I can figure out what the ratio is to be accepted.

I got my acceptance (in Oct) and all other correspondence via email. I've never gotten a hard-copy letter from them, everything has been done digitally.

Hey, congrats on your interview! Just curious, what other dates did they let you pick from? I am wondering when their last interview date is, because I assume this year we won't hear back until after that date (???)

Thank you, and it was March 8th. I don't know if they are going to have another interview after that.

I think it was around 30, I can't remember the exact number.

Wow... only 30 seats?! They accepted 130 students from early decision?

im think (and im hoping) luckyphooey meant that 30 people were accepted early decision, and that 130 spots are available for regular decision...that makes more sense seeing the amount of people they interview. there has to be more than only 30 seats left for them to still be interviewing ~300 people!

Haha definitely, around 30 were offered and bounded to come to UMD.

Lol I hope so! That would definitely make a lot more sense 🙄

When I went to interview, they told me that they will interview about 500 applicants instead of 300.

wow, 55% is a huge increase in applications! but im still surprised they are going to interview 200 extra people because of it, seems like overkill.

im guessing maryland isnt on rolling admissions since they don't accept people until after all interviews are over? so does that mean that going to one of the first interview slots doesn't give you any kind of advantage? just thought id ask!

WOW seriously? Who did you hear that from? I really hope that isn't true... I think there have been 7 interview dates thus far, and with about 48 people on each day that would equate to 336. I wonder if they are planning for more interview dates?

????? Come on! 130 out of 500! The possibility of getting in is only ~26%.

I dont think we interviewed 500 people, all I know is that this year is very competitive due to the increase in applicants.

i believe they'll accept more than 130 interviewees since not everyone will end up going to UMB. so your odds are slightly better than that.
