Okay so I know this is one of the elite schools and you have to have amazing stats to even have the slightest chance of acceptance...
but any encouraging stories from people who got accepted?
For example if someones totally skrood up their undergrad by getting like a 3.2 gpa and 25 mcat...lol...would there be any options for them as far as acceptance at umich goes?
I know they have a masters in physiology program as a gpa enhancer but that by no means guarantees acceptance into med school obv and thats the only problem i see. Any success stories for umich?? anyone whos currently a student there got a bad gpa in undergrad? if so, what did u do and how long did it take?
I know mcat is not a big problem...3-4 months of hardcore study can easily get you a 35...but gpa is a problem and umich focuses on undergrad gpa n numbers overall ofcourse.

even being a michigan resident doesnt help much for u mich 🙁

any advice? any hope any chance?

I'm pretty sure you can only say this after you take the actual test and score a 35+.

They also are a school that cares about undergrad prestige. I would have qualified for their auto interview invite had it not been for my undergrad institution.

I went to nursing school with a boy (ADN-level) who is currently in medical school at University of Michigan. If a person who went to a community college for nursing school can get in...then maybe there is a chance for others.

in on this since Mich is one of my top choices.

If that were the case, I'm pretty sure we'd have a ton of applicants running around with a 35. But even if you got that score, 3.2 is just going to be too low to be balanced out by any MCAT; I'm not sure a 40 would get you in.

The honest truth is that I would take any time you were thinking of giving to finding a way to get to UMich and instead take some more classes to raise your GPA, study for and re-take the MCAT and make that 35 you're hoping for, and focus on getting into *A* school. Wishing there was a way to parlay such a below-average GPA into a top 10 acceptance will not make such a way appear.

One of my best friends is a 2nd year at UM and said there was at least one guy in his class who had a lower gpa and MCAT (roughly 3.3 and 26 if I remember correctly). I remember being told he dropped out after his first year....unsure of the reason though...but at least you know it can happen 🙂 Good luck!

UM likes big numbers(MCAT/GPA) It it is still possible to get in with less than stellar numbers, however very unlikely. Of the roughly 350 acceptances they gave out in 2009, roughly 30 of these had less than a 30 MCAT. 92% of the matriculating class that year also had some sort of research experience. UM also places great value on LOR's(not that other schools don't, but UM seems to place extra emphasis on them). Make sure you apply early as well.
